Just where is Orange County’s First District?

OC Watershed & Coastal Resources DivisionIt’s right in the middle of the county, that’s where.

The map to the left was taken from the web site of the Orange County Watershed & Coastal Resources Division here.

The First District consists of all of Westminster, Santa Ana, Midway City, and a portion of Garden Grove.

The entire area commonly known as Little Saigon is located wholly within the First District.

So is the Korean area of Garden Grove. And the City of Santa Ana with its overwhelming majority of Mexican-Americans.

BTW, Santa Ana got its first all-Mexican city council with the last election.

The First District is also the only area in this very Red county to have the majority of voters registering Democratic. That’s why guys like Paul Lucas are driven crazy by the fact that the Democratic Party couldn’t put up strong candidates to hold onto this seat. No disrespect to Hoa Van Tran, but he’s an unknown and will have to work to become a viable candidate. Not to mention a lot of fund-raising too….

Here’s another map, taken from Janet Nguyen‘s web site and annotated by the Bolsavik:
