Garden Grove City Councilwoman and supervisor candidate Dina Nguyen (pictured; no relations to the incumbent Orange County Supervisor Janet Nguyen, but if you care enough to read this then you probably know it already) sat down with the Bolsavik on Wednesday and spoke of her campaign, how she’s sure she would win – 
and how she defines a “win” as forcing Janet into a November runoff, though she thinks she has a chance at an outright June victory as well.
The non-partisan election for supervisor is set for June 3. There are three candidates in the running, all Vietnamese: Janet, Dina, and Hoa Van Tran the lone Democrat. If no candidates receive more than 50% of the votes, the top two will go into a runoff election.
Talking with Dina, you can tell there’s no love lost between her and Janet. She criticized Janet for not “working directly with the people of the First District and instead would allow her staff Andrew Do and Nick Lecong to communicate for her.” (The references to Do and Lecong indicates that Dina meant the Vietnamese-American people of the First District.)
So, what does Dina think of Nick Lecong anyway?
Big long silence.
And then, “You can quote that I’m speechless when it comes to him,” Dina said. No surprises there. Nick Lecong has been the subject of numerous rumors running around town, and Dina doesn’t want to be seen as stoking those rumors. (Neither does the Bolsavik, so don’t ask. Won’t tell.)
Dina also disagrees with the way Janet has been allocating money. It’s “not fair, not logical,” she said, adding: “You can’t buy a new dress when you don’t have three meals a day.”
The $3-million pedestrian bridge across Bolsa Avenue? “It’s a new dress,” she said.
“So, if you’re elected, you’ll take back the bridge?” the Bolsavik asked.
“I’ll listen to the cities if I’m elected,” Dina finessed.
“So you’re not taking it back?”
“It depends on what the people in Westminster say. I don’t think they’ll say they want the bridge.”
Although Dina admits that she has a strategy to force Janet into a runoff, she’s not dismissing the possibility of winning outright in June.
“It depends on the turnout. If the turnout is mostly Vietnamese, I have a good chance,” Dina says.
Dina then recounts a scenario that’s been stated by many analysts: There are no other significant races in the June election, only the supervisor’s race. If people say, “Oh, there are three Vietnamese, let them fight it out,” then all non-Viets stay home and Dina wins the Viet vote. (The assumption that Dina will win among the Viets is extrapolated from the results of the 2007 special elections. In that race, academic pollster Chris Collet found that 6% more Viet voters went for Trung Nguyen than for Janet Nguyen.)
The issue of immigration came up during the conversation. Dina defends her trip with the Van Tran gang to the border. She told the Bolsavik:
“Flying down to the border is not for or against immigrants. My purpose was to see what the border project was about, and in fact I would suggest that people on both sides of the issue go down and observe what’s going on.”
Her own observations led to this conclusion:
“I concluded that it is a peaceful deterrent to illegal immigrants from passing the border. To a point, it works. Not only that, it tells me that we’re secure from certain things like drug trafficking, terrorism. It deals with our security.”
The visit to the border also gave her one particular point of comfort. “Before I went, I had this concern about the Minutemen, and how they were running around enforcing their own laws. But the border guards told me they were very in control of the Minutemen. That was my concern with civilian vigilantes.”

My family of 4 will vote for Dina if she will not involve with the “gang” that protesting against Nguoi Viet Daily News. We see those people as “trouble makers” and a shame for the Vietnamese community.
By listening to the people of Westminster does that mean she’s going to do what Andy Quach tells her to do? Because it already looks that way in the relationship now.

I don’t think we wants any more dirty politicians in our government. Unfortunately Dina is one of them ( this is the fact based on my own personal involvement with her). However, a lots of people has been fooled by her sweet talk & overlook at her moral value on life, love & friendship. A human being should have a good moral value to be a good person, to be able to differentiate between right and wrong…and that’s what makes us different from the animals. I really hope the Vietnamese community will not make the same mistake twice.
Van Tran seems to have great influence over his team mates. He, once again, sends Dina N. out to take personal stab at Janet N. I feel bad for Dina being used, forgetting about her own personal trouble. Wake up Dina. If you are smart enough, get out.
The reign of Van Tran gang is over in O.C now. It’s a sure doom for any cohort who tries to hang on under his wing, so DINA is. After being endorsed by Republican party (with 44 -14 votes over Dina), Janet is not only a rising star but a new leader who soon will overshadow old “Godfather” Van Tran. Hopefully this will jump-start a healthy political life in Little Saigon which has been fed for a long time with all kinds of demagogic and BS stuff from unscrupulous politicians.

Keep dreaming on. All lovers of “Janet the Back Stabber” are just soooo jealous and envious of Assemblyman Van Tran and his team. Like it or not, they brought power and influence for the Vietnamese community. Janet Nguyen can’t do jack alone. She’s a political leper. Other Viet politicians wanted absolutely nothing to do with her, or they get political leprosy if they come close.
The petty jealousy and envy can’t hurt Tran or his influential and united team, which is growing by the day. You boys and girls have tried for so many years to divide and knock them down but they kept growing stronger and stronger. Repeated knocks on Tran and his team have failed miserably. You can’t climb up by attacking others, Janet Nguyen. Your stabbing days are long over. Get used to getting hit in the face. At least you know it’s coming. At least it’s more civilized than getting stabbed in the back.

Are Dina and Andy finally out of the closet now or are they will sneaking around? Dina has very low moral values, with both of them cheating on his girlfriend Roxanne Chow not only made her look bad, it made us wonder if she’s the kind of politicians that we want to represent us, the kind that has low moral standard, no family values or principles, her shady background is enough for people to think twice about supporting her. This girl can’t seem to think or speak intelligently without Van Tran coaching her or scripting for her. She’s only been in the game for a little over a year and already playing dirty politics, bad mouthing and backstabbing those that dare speak the truth. That whole team need to take a good look at Monday night when Chairman Scott Baugh said to the TRANNIES that they need to stop this kind of GUTTER POLITICS, learn from that and clean up their act before they go further…

I read somewhere that Dina was blaming her old campaign manager Linh Nguyen for starting the rumors about her sneaking around with Andy Quach? She’s foolish, no one have to spead rumors, they are with each other 24/7, she broke up Andy & Roxanne Chow’s relationship and that’s a fact known throughout Orange County. Is she dillusional?
Need correct: 1. Dina was not before the central committee for a vote. 2. The vote was 31/14 to endorse another candidate 3. 14 over 31 or 14 over 44 does not make 25 %. 14 over 45 (31+14) does equal 33%. So Van doesn’t need to be condoled, because he had 33% (NO) + a good number of people who abstained and stayed home. After all, he was polled as one of the top five most influential people in Orange County. Dick Ackerman, Scott Baugh and the rest of their gang should give Van credit for all the hard work that he has done for the Republican party and stop being threatened by Van’s ability to bring the Republican party to a higher level. They should be wise enough to know that they have nothing to lose from Van’s work.

Have you seen all the articles written about Dina since she enter the race for Supervisor? Its all written by one of the TRANNIES or by her paid writer. Anything that’s not written by their camp has been very unfavorable to the Trannies. they are a bunch of power hungry, corrupted and none have the ability to lead. We are so sick of all these people (Van Tran & his groupies) trying to cover things up, influenced the media, spread propaganda and strong arm people to get what they want. We should stand tall, stand united and stand by Bolsavik’s side to help clean up this community and we should start with Dina’s campaign. Otherwise don’t expect things to get better in this town. Little Saigon is full of communist, the most visible is Van Tran’s group. They operate just like the Communist Party.
