Extremists of Bolsavikland, unite!
April 15th, 2008
This photo was sent out in a mass email by Cung The Tran, one of the most prominent protesters against Nguoi Viet daily news and also one of three defendants named in the newspaper’s lawsuit.
The Bolsavik will not comment on what the photo looks like lest he be validating Godwin’s Law. What it actually is, is a vote at a Sunday meeting in Little Saigon to approve the slate of leaders for a new organization called the “Force to Protect the Yellow Flag,” referencing the flag of the former Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam).
Side bar: This is not the first nor the only organization with “Yellow Flag” in its name. There’s also a “Committee to Protect the Yellow Flag” that has been going around advocating local governments to pass resolutions honoring the Yellow Flag as the flag of the Vietnamese American community. One leader of the “Committee” is Lan Quoc Nguyen, an ally of Van Thai Tran and member of the Garden Grove School Board. One such resolution was signed by Governor Schwarzenegger. The signing ceremony was the one in which supervisorial candidate Trung Nguyen would later Photoshop his head to be next to the Governator. That particular resolution, however, was signed right before the 2006 elections, and because of campaigning needs, the “Committee” ceded all lobbying credit to Lynn Daucher.
The “Force to Protect the Yellow Flag” links together two protest groups: The group protesting Nguoi Viet, and the group (among them: Long Pham, candidate for OC Board of Education and wannabe protest leader) that has been organizing other protests such as protesting a dead musician accused of being communist. Read more here and here.

That Ky Ngo is seeking more allies may be an indication that he’s feeling the pinch.
But pinch or not, Ky Ngo scored a big PR point with a guest of honor to his protest: Ly Tong.
Ly Tong came down on Sunday a little too late to join in the mass salute/vote above.
Who’s this? Ly Tong is considered a hero by many for dropping anti-communist leaflets on Saigon and on Havana, Cuba.
In the photo right, published on Take2Tango.com here, Ly Tong is second from left. Trong Doan is 1st left, Cung The Tran is 5th left and Ky Ngo is 2nd right.
During the protests in San Jose earlier this year, demanding that a stretch of street there be named “Little Saigon,” Ly Tong embarked on a hunger strike to support the demand. For a good summary, read the L.A. Times story by My-Thuan Tran here.
The San Jose protests and Ly Tong’s hunger strike ended when the City signed an agreement with the protesters basically saying that private property owners can erect signs saying “Welcome to Little Saigon” on their property at their own expense.
How is that a concession by the City? The Bolsavik doesn’t know either. Read more here and here. After the agreement was signed and the San Jose protests ended, some turned on Ly Tong!! Read here.
Now that he’s under criticism in San Jose, Ly Tong apparently decided to come to Orange County, where his star power remains undiminished.
First thing first, he donated $200 to the Trong Doan - Ky Ngo - Cung The Tran legal defense fund. The photo at left was published in Take2Tango.com here.
The Take2Tango.com web site has reliably been a voice of all extremists in the entire Vietnamese-American world. Take2Tango.com even has fans in Nguoi Viet’s news department, until it started taking on Nguoi Viet.
Update: The “Force to Protect the Yellow Flag” has, during the Sunday meeting, renamed itself “Vietnamese People Against Communists.”
Update 2: The L.A. Times’ My-Thuan Tran wrote about Ly Tong’s appearance here.
Update 3: The Force is the force again. It’s now the “Force Against Communists and Lackeys.”

NAZIS.
They look like Nazis saluting a dictatorship.
These are not freedom fighters. They’re planted in Little Saigon to build up the Communist party. Nazis. Liars.

A flag for your community? Are you serious? You need only one flag here and that is the Stars and Stripes. Get back on the boat and leave if you can’t accept our flag and our culture. And what about Little Saigon how about just Westminster.

Your issue isn’t with the communists it’s with your own superiority complex.
Clean up “Little Saigon” and be proud of your heritage but don’t force your opinions on the rest of us;Don’t you protesters have jobs?

I salute you, Vu Quy Hao Nhien. I think Nguoi Viet management team has cowardly gave in too quickly and therefore allowed the protesters to abuse the term “democracy”.
As for the protesters, they are what we call “full-time” professional protester and for lack of a better word, it’s “bum”. I can understand if those “full-time” protesters are over 65 year-old folks who receive SSA/SSI and have plenty of free time but I can never understand how Ngo Ky, Doan Trong and some other younger folks can camp out 24/7 like that. Don’t they have to work? How do they make their livings? Perhaps, living on the street, eating donated food, and receiving $800 something SSI benefits for their mental disabilities are enough to get them going and going and going? Are we, the tax payers, paying for their expenses so they can sit there and make us, the Vietnamese American, look bad? Such ashame!!!
