Nguoi Viet protesters: One out on bail, another targeted

After less than 24 hours in jail, Trong Doan posted bail and was released at 2:28 AM, Friday April 4.

Since early January, Trong Doan has been one of a handful of major players in the continuous, day-and-night, 24/7 protests against Little Saigon-based Nguoi Viet newspaper. The protesters have been insisting that the protests are spontaneous with no formal organization. The Westminster Police Department calls Trong Doan an organizer.

According to the police and confirmed by the Bolsavik‘s sources, Trong Doan was seen in a January 31 video pushing a Nguoi Viet reporter in the chest. (The police calls it a punch; to the Bolsavik it looks more like a push. Either way, it’s battery.) That evidence allowed the D.A.’s office to obtain a warrant to arrest Doan at his home yesterday morning.

The Bolsavik’s sources also allege that a second video involving the same Nguoi Viet reporter implicates another of the protests’ leading figures, Ky Ngo. Westminster PD declined to confirm this, but on record their press release (here) implies that more arrests are coming. The Bolsavik has not seen that alleged second video, so he’s skeptical. Ky Ngo has been in the protesting business for a long time and should know enough not to touch people.

Ky Ngo is right now at the courthouse in Westminster taking care of a citation for having a power generator on public property in front of Nguoi Viet without a permit. He needed the generator to shine lights on an altar he had set up across the parking lot from Nguoi Viet.

  1. Howlin' says:

Good reporting. Wondering if the law enforcement involvement affected the small crowd these guys have been able to gather each day.

  2. Titou says:

Those stupid guys are manipulated by commies back home in a way and they don’t even realize that. If this kind of things keep on happening, the so-called Bolsa oversea anti-commie community will go crazy in drama and separation. And that is exactly what the commies want. Stop the stupidity.
