USC flag issue not gone away yet

It has been more than a week since the University of Southern California affirmed that it would retain the red-and-yellow-star flag of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at USC’s international center, commonly called the VKC building. At the time (April 24), flag activist Hung Phuong Nguyen was swearing up and down to the Reg’s Deepa Bharath here that he’d ready his forces to go protest the university’s administration.

Since then, however, it’s been nothing but silence. People passionate about things like this kept waiting for something to come out of Hung Phuong Nguyen’s organization, the Coalition Against Resolution 36 (mentioned by Dina Nguyen in a city council meeting here), but, nope, nothing happened.

And out of nowhere came this annoucement (photo below) from Lac Tan Nuygen, calling for a community town hall this Thursday at Little Saigon Radio to plan action against USC.

Lac Tan Nuygen (yes that is how he officially modified the spelling of his name), you may remember, ran in the 2006 general elections for the 2 open Garden Grove City Council seats and came in fourth to Dina Nguyen and Bruce Broadwater. His 8.7% barely exceeded the 6.3% garnered by dropped out candidate An Le.

Nuygen’s call for a town hall meeting not only underscores the inactivity of the Coalition Against Resolution 36, but also highlights the immobility of another group, the Forces Against Communism, the group featured here.

It’s one-upmanship on who’s wrapped more tightly around the flag.

OK, quick review on the Nguyens and Nuygens:

* Hung Phuong Nguyen is a Trannie, a supporter of all things Van Tran, and a leader of the Coalition Against Resolution 36. This group is the main organizer of the protests against Viet Weekly. Read this.

* Lac Tan Nuygen’s group is the main organizer bringing the refugee boat to Little Saigon. Here.

* The Forces Against Communism group features candidate Long Pham (see here) and a Dr. Vinh Xuan Nguyen, who’s rumored to really hate both Hung Phuong Nguyen and Lac Tan Nuygen. They’ve aligned themselves with Ky Ngo, Trong Doan and other Nguoi Viet protesters.

What? You say you’re unable to tell them apart?

Don’t worry.

Most people can’t.

Well, some of the people like to do “ru?i bu” things. Generation by generation. I mean, endlessness.

  2. Tien Huynh says:

Things have changed. Unlike the successful protest against Truong Tran 9 years ago, this time the protesters are facing an unusual target. USC, an independent private world class university with 3.7 billion dollars of endowment, a pride of American culture, is much different than a small illegal business store owner Truong Tran. Even the US government, the most powerful government in the world, cannot dictate what USC should do! A protest which comprises 50,000 protesters, who no longer have sympathy from the American public, would mean NOTHING! -Tien Huynh

  3. Anti-Bolsavik says:

Hung Phuong Nguyen is nothing but Dina and Andy’s tool to boost the girl’s campaign not for first district supervisor but for the Trannies. Hung first went with some folks of the Coalition Against Resolution 36 and the “couple” to Irvine Valley College (IVC) to ask the removal of the Communist flag to boost their images, which had been diminished because of the protest in front of Nguoi Viet Daily News. They were somehow successful because IVC took down all of the flag, and the school is a public one. With USC, Hung and his folks probably don’t know this is a private university and the govt can’t do anything. That’s why they went on, like they did at IVC. They are wrong, and things are getting more serious and they can’t do anything either. Meanwhile, Dr. Vinh Xuan Nguyen and his protege Nguyet Minh Thi Nguyen are busy “making love” with Trong Doan and Ky Ngo. With Lactan Nuygen jumps in like this, things will get nastier and more interesting. I am not surprised if the Viet community here in America is falling apart. BTW, Dung Tan Nguyen, Vietnam prime minister, will come to America soon to open one consulate in Houston and probably one in Los Angeles, not far away from USC. What would these folks do? Wait and see…nothing!

  4. Banned Dina from Politics says:

Dina has proven to us time after time that she’s only a follower. Andy her boyfriend is in total control of this campaign and he’s not too bright so what you have is a DISASTER. They can’t read (proofread), they can’t write (filling out wrong form), they can’t seem to control their hormones and I AM SO CERTAIN THERE’S MORE TO COME.

  5. ah says:

Let’s move, tentatively, one step away from the “flag politics” and look at the selection criteria put out by USC for a flag to be hung there. Is “the flag” a flag like that? Cheers.

My in-laws are from Southern Vietnam so I get to learn quite a bit about the Freedom Flag. I also have the privilege to learn about all the Viet electeds as well as the bickering between Janet Nguyen & Van Tran. I had some time last week and I was curious enough so I started doing some digging that’s when I came across your site as well. I didn’t have to dig deep and I found plenty of things about DINA which made me wonder how Van Tran could even put his name on her endorsement list. Not only is her background questionable, everything they listed on her bio and the recent vietnamese mailer posted on OC blog was all a lie. Van said she’s been working to encourage Viet youths to get involve in politics over a decade? Where? She admitted a year an a half ago that she knows nothing about the Viet community and that her manger Ling Nguyen is her guiding light to her own community. then there’s another claim to fame, her involvement with flag resolution, I’ve made numerous phone calls and every single person told me the exact same story, SHE WAS NEVER A PART OF IT but was at the event when Arnold came to town because Van Tran & Ling Nguyen was trying to give her the credit so she could run for office. Regarding her involvement with the Islands taken by the Chinese, I would love to find out exactly what she did becuase I can’t seem to find anything on that except what she claimed in her mailer. She work as a clerk in at the court house, big deal…Maybe you could help me Bolsavik, by now, does the Viet community know or understand what’s happening to Van Tran and his groupies reputation with the REpublican Party and the Caucasion community? I supported Van Tran before but some of his recent decisions made me scratch my head. WHY WOULD THE COMMUNITY TOLERATE THIS KIND OF DISRESPECT AND ACCEPT THESE LIES? They would organize hundreds of people to protest against a ligitimate business and they get the full support of a lot of people in the community, yet they have scoundrels like the Trannies, especially DINA nguyen lying to their face and they are ok with it?

  7. Hopeful says:

I really dont’ know what Chu Van Tran is thinking but endorsing Dina and backing her is a wrong choice for his political career. I’ve read her Vietnamese mail piece and if she’s truly has been this active and has done all these things that she claimed she did, HOW COME WE NEVER KNEW ABOUT IT?

  8. chips zynga says:

lol many of the remarks individuals write crack me up, often i ask myself if they really read the items and content before leaving your 2 cents or whether they pretty much read over the subject of the post and type the first idea that drifts into their minds. anyhow, it is really nice to look over keen commentary from time to time rather than the exact same, traditional blog vomit which i usually see on the internet i’m going to have fun with a few hands of zynga poker good bye
