Assemblyman Van Thai Tran jumped head first into the Dina Nguyen campaign’s red baiting, leading the accusation that incumbent OC Supervisor Janet Nguyen is a sympathizer for mingling with alleged communists.
Van Tran spoke in a radio spot broadcast on Little Saigon Radio several times each day starting last week, challenging Janet Nguyen to answer the charges that she’s a commie.
The source for Van Tran’s accusation is a two-page spread published in Nguoi Viet. The piece was signed by three leaders of the Coalition Against Resolution 36, but very few people believe the three actually wrote it.
On the day Nguoi Viet published the red-baiting piece, Lan Quoc Nguyen (pictured above, left), a member of the Garden Grove School Board and close ally of Van Tran’s, also went on Little Saigon Radio and challenged two of Janet Nguyen’s associates to answer the charges: Her chief of staff Andrew Do and her policy advisor Nick Lecong. (They apparently did but Nguoi Viet wouldn’t print it.)
Apparently, in the Van Tran hierarchy, Lan is just allowed to challenge the underlings; only Van Tran is permitted to hit Janet.
The day after Lan Quoc Nguyen appeared on radio, professional protester Hung Phuong Nguyen (wrong picture) joined the fray and ranted away for at least 7 minutes (that’s how long the Bolsavik listened) on late-night radio, ragging on Janet Nguyen, Nick Lecong and, for good measure, Tony Lam the first Vietnamese-American to be elected to public office.
During Van Tran’s 2004 assembly race, Ky Ngo used to go on late night radio to attack anyone who would criticize Tran. It appears that the job now falls to Hung Phuong Nguyen.
Dina Nguyen the candidate and Garden Grove City Councilwoman is doing her own red-baiting. In a full-page, full-color ad appearing in Nguoi Viet (among others), Dina’s campaign repeated the accusations by the Coalition that Janet is a commie, citing repeatedly, “From Nguoi Viet.” That Nick Lecong is a commie. That Andrew Do, her chief of staff and former OC assistant district attorney, is a commie.
And of course, that Tony Lam is a commie too. Never mind that Van Tran’s own web site still smarts a photo of Van horse-playing with said commie Tony Lam at a reception in Irvine mayoral candidate John Duong‘s house. That’s the photo above, right.
Disappointed,
I am disappointed in your trash talk. Where did you learn your manners? From your mom and dad who needed a job? Get a life loser!
THAT’S OK jung kim, EVEN THOUGH dina DIDN’T WIN she KNOWS THAT you DID TRY YOUR BEST TO CONVINCE PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR HER. WHAT SHE DIDN’T KNOW WAS THE VIET VOTERS ARE A LOT SMARTER NOW THAN 2 YEARS AGO.
TLC, Dina did receive many viet votes …..it was just not enough to overcome non viet votes.
Dina was hurt by her smaller campaign dinero chest….other than that, with good preparations in the future she is still a viable viet candidate for any public offices.
IF THAT INFO WAS TRUE I WONDER WHY OTHER ETHIC DIDN’T VOTE FOR HER … MAY BE THEY KNOW SOMETHING THAT VIET VOTERS DON’T KNOW
ANYWAY IT’S GOOD THAT you STILL HAVE YOUR FAITH, GOD BLESS you AND THE PEOPLE IN THE 1ST DISTRICT!
I loved your post.Much thanks again. Really Great.
