One of the little-noticed changes taking place within the last few months is the quiet muscling in by the Van Thai Tran camp onto the pages of Vietnamese-language print media in Orange County.
According to the way an editor at one of the publications explained, off the record, to the Bolsavik, “Printing something put out by Van Tran’s men is a small price to pay to get peace from the protesters.”
The editor then clarified, though, that he didn’t mean to say that the Van Tran group had any control over the protesters, only that it was his “gut feeling” that “if they think you’re on Van Tran’s side, they won’t mess with you.”
Whether by design or just lucky to take whatever come their way, the Trannies have been taking advantage of the situation. Self-serving pieces coming from Tran’s henchman Cuong Bui have been appearing on Vietnamese-language print media, verbatim, with no editing (spelling errors and bad punctuations intact) and no fact-checking. Cuong Bui is a former restaurateur, but now functions as the chief writer of puff pieces for the Tran gang. The man responsible for the Photoshop work on Trung Nguyen‘s head (verified by the Bolsavik) is also reputedly responsible for the misspell on Dina Nguyen‘s mailer (unverified).
Most noticeable among the new Trannie publications is the Bolsavik’s former employer, Nguoi Viet Daily News. Within a span of 2 weeks, Nguoi Viet published 3 puff pieces by Cuong Bui, writing under the names of Nguyen Phuong and Nguyen Toan, touting the works of Van Tran’s group. (The same byline would appear in multiple publications, each pretending the news is its own.)
Nguoi Viet’s enthusiastic compliance with the demands of Cuong Bui can be traced to the newfound powers of its senior editor and number-one Van Tran fan on staff: Toan Quy Do (pictured), who also writes under a host of pseudonyms (in Vietnamese: Ngô Nhân Dung, Vuong Huu Bot, Tran Duc Truc, etc.).
As told to the Bolsavik, the day after Janet Nguyen won the endorsement of the OC Republican Party, Toan Do (no relations to editor-in-chief Anh B. Do) instructed the staff not to write about the GOP meeting, and to wait for Cuong Bui’s piece instead. It came a day later, carrying a lengthy three-line head that read: “First District Supervisor race: OC Republican Party endorses Janet Nguyen, educators and Vietnamese elected officials support Dina Nguyen.”
The (mis)lead paragraph read like it came straight out of something by the various Trannies writing on local political blogs: “The general monthly meeting of the Orange County Republican Party on Monday night, April 21, voted to officially endorse the incumbent candidate Supervisor Janet Nguyen in the coming elections. This decision by the Republicans came after the organization twice declined to trust the incumbent supervisor.”
Will this make any difference? The efforts expended by the Van Tran camp to reach the current results suggest that it does.
And it makes sense. As found in a survey commissioned by OCAPICA and the APALC (read here), an overwhelming 96% of all Vietnamese-Americans who cast ballots in the 2006 general elections were foreign-born, making the Vietnamese-language media highly influential.

Sounds like you’re still pretty sore over getting fired by the Nguoi Viet Daily. You are anything but a professional journalist, nor are you a fair and unbiased party, either. The language used on your own blog gives you off as a disenchanted and frustrated individual who fails in everything that you do, including your failed law practice for which you are repeatedly disciplined and then disbarred.

It was not a secret how much he supported Janet Nguyen, Andrew Do and Nick Le Cong menage a trois when he was editing the newspaper. The Trung Nguyen side see how he and Do Dzung (writer) constantly writing about Janet puff pieces (thanks for new word) and now Do Dzung telling to him information so they play games against paper and Trung Nguyen. All the papers like Viet Bao, Vien Dong, Viet Weekly, new entry Viet Star being funded by Dina Nguyen’s camp are writing puff pieces about all the candidates: Janet Nguyen, Dina Nguyen, Hoa Tran and the people supporting them. All the radio stations, TV stations are doing the same. I see Nguoi Viet printing about Van Tran and Janet Nguyen, the two opposite sides, each week so maybe it is more balanced. Viet Bao is obsessed with the Trannies including Lan Quoc Nguyen who has a close friendship with them. They print puff pieces verbatim including photos. Vien Dong prints everything for payment. Westminster councilman Tri Ta wrote a puff piece about his friend Dina Nguyen in Viet Star which is full of other photos of Dina.
Janet Nguyen is coming out with her new newspaper to promote her campaign soon. Most puff pieces about her being written by Andrew Do, translated by Nick Le Cong, to give the image of her being busy to get votes. All the radio stations covering Janet Nguyen side and Van Tran side everyday and I know from my father who gave me the updates. Your blog is very biased unlike the blog of the Liberal OC. He is very credible.

Blogs are opinion and editorial forums on topics of interest presented by the proprietor(s) of the blog and its commentators. If people are reading this or similar blogs and demanding unbiased, hard news, I think they would have a better time reading the TV Guide and planning their week accordingly. The manner in which poster #1 (Lam Pho) responded to this post by the Bolsavik shows that he/she/they are personally affected by the issue.

HAO-NHIEN QUI VU [#177529], 42, of Westminster Probation was revoked, the stay of suspension was lifted and he was actually suspended for two years and until he proves his rehabilitation and was ordered to comply with rule 955. Credit toward the actual suspension will be given for a period of involuntary inactive enrollment that began May 21, 2006. The order took effect Sept. 10, 2006.
Vu did not submit four quarterly probation reports, prove he attended ethics school or complete six hours of MCLE in ethics. Vu did not participate in the probation revocation proceeding.
He was disciplined in 2004 for failing to perform legal services competently and for the unauthorized practice of law.

HAO-NHIEN Q. VU [#177529], 40, of Westminster was suspended for two years, stayed, placed on two years of probation with a 30-day actual suspension and was ordered to take the MPRE within a year and to prove his rehabilitation. The order took effect Oct. 30, 2004.
Vu stipulated to misconduct in two matters, including failing to perform legal services competently and the unauthorized practice of law.
Vu represented two clients in a patent infringement case, but failed to handle the case properly. He failed to inform one client about discovery, scheduled depositions without informing the clients and then failed to show up, entered into a consent order without telling the clients and failed to inform one client about critical pre-trial deadlines. He also did not respond to his clients’ inquiries, and they were forced to hire a new lawyer.
Vu was sanctioned $5,000 as a result of his conduct, but his check was written against insufficient funds.
His failure to perform left his clients facing severe monetary and evidentiary sanctions.
In the second matter, Vu filed two notices with a court while he was suspended for failing to pay his bar dues.
In mitigation, he has no prior record of discipline.

We’ve known all along that they have their own paid writers that’s how they promote themselves. They are all hungry for fame and making easy money through corrupted dealings is attractive enough for these lazy bumps to get into politics. Bolsavik: I have been reading your post for some time now and I appreciate your efforts for a fair and balanced representation of all the Van Tran Clan/Machine. Are you sure you shouldn’t be working for FOX News? LOL Anyway it might be very interesting to your readers to research some more on Dina Nguyen. It cannot be found where she has even an undergraduate degree; but she has a law degree from an “out of the mainstream” law school that doesn’t even require an undergraduate degree for admission. How many times did she take the bar exam? I heard it was very difficult for her and she had to take it many times. Her personal life is a trainwreck. Her work history at the courthouse, while it should be confidential, there are enough people and judges that worked with her that the word was out there that she was barred from many courtrooms for her errors. I was told her common name was “Dingy Dina” due to her errors. She says she quit after 18 years because she wante to serve the public more. But what is she doing for an income besides collecting child support for her three children? What does she do for a living now? Is it true she married her fiance’s brother while her fiance was serving in the military in Iraq? What happened to that marriage?
It is common for anyone associated with the Trannies to blow out of proportion their activities and make overstatements of their “greatness”. How do you dispell this to the Viet Community when most of the media in the Viet community is practically “owned” by the Trannies.
You are doing a good job. Keep up the good work. But know when you try to do the right thing and stay out of the Trannie machine, they work against you hard and they use their media to do it.

Talking about Tri Ta, does this guy speak English? I have been watching the Westminster city council meeting for the last 4 months, I had not heard him speak a word. He looks so dumb and incompetent.
