The Register’s Peggy Lowe published this entry reporting that Orange County’s campaign finance watchdog (and the author of the OC campaign finance laws) Shirley Grindle has filed a formal complaint with the District Attorney and the California Attorney General, alleging campaign finance violations by Assemblyman Van Thai Tran (pictured) and supervisorial candidate Dina Nguyen.
The complaint centers on a Van Tran mailer in support of Dina Nguyen’s candidacy, and alleges the following:
* State law does not allow an assembly member’s campaign to make independent expenditures. The mailer was paid for by the Van Tran for Assembly campaign (not his own money). If it was made without coordination with the Dina Nguyen campaign, it is an independent expenditure and violates state law.
* If the Van Tran mailer was made with coordination with the Dina Nguyen campaign, then it is an in-kind contribution and is subject to the $1,600 contribution limit. The full-color glossy two-sided letter, massively mailed to every Viet voter in the First District, clearly costs more than that in printing and mailing cost.
* And if it is an in-kind contribution, then Dina Nguyen is in violation. County campaign laws prohibits county candidates from accepting in-kind contribution from other federal or state campaign, which the Van Tran for Assembly campaign is one.

Van Tran and his protoges are under scrutiny by many people across the board because he and his gangsters have been playing dirty, accusing and attacking other Viet candidates if they dont’ go along with his plans to monopolize the political arena from local to State levels… Dina has brother that just got arrested back in Dec. in an international drug bust, she’s unmarried with 3 kids from 3 different fathers (wreckless), she’s known to be linked to many gangsters all her life (even now), every about her background is SHADY, her mentor has a wife that was charged with 9 counts of felony for insurance fraud, Dina has no business experience (although she claimed to be selfemployed), ever since Dina started campaigning for her Supervisorial seat, she’s famous for “backtracking” every statement that she’s made in public… one oops after another… she’s very new to the political arena, based on her track record she hasn’t done sh!t for the community or any others, Dina’s SELF SERVING, she can’t think on her own and you can see that very clearly with every one of her interviews and major lack of public speaking skills… when asked about important issues related to the Supervisor position, she CAN’T ANSWER ONE QUESTION correctly!!! IF DINA GETS ELECTED ALL OF ARE SCREWED!!! IT’S JOKE AND A DISASTER FOR ALL PEOPLE IN THE 1ST DISTRICT

dina is so dumb she can’t see that she’s being used like a pawn by Van Tran the Godfather to settle personal vengence!!! Knowing how dumb she is she probably thinks that they all believe in her!!! What a bimbo!!! She has no idea that it’s all about Van Tran taking out Janet Nguyen and it has nothing with believing in dina at all(what is there to believe in? That for sure she will wreck another home or have another child out of wedlock?), if anything they wish they can remove her as the candidate now and replace her with another because all she’s ever done is embarass them and the Godfather himself. One stupid comment after another from her is enough for them to keep her away from all TV interviews now.
