Checked in with the lawyer for Ky Ngo (pictured), the lead agitator in the ongoing protest against Nguoi Viet Daily News. (Protest highlights here, here, here, here, here, here.)
Ky Ngo was prosecuted for a misdemeanor zoning violation, for illegally running a power generator.
His lawyer Jeff Tatch told the Bolsavik that Ky Ngo has pled guilty to the misdeameanor, avoiding a jury trial and in return will also face no punishments at all. Just a criminal record. Other than that, no fines, no highway trash cleanup. Not even probation.
Feeling all good about getting off the criminal justice system, Ky Ngo seemed to get a second wind.
So he started picking fights with people.
Beginning last week, Nguoi Viet has been opening up its community room, hooking up DirecTV to a projector, and showing soccer matches from the European Championship on a wall-sized screen for free. Plus free coffee and soy milk.
That pissed Ky Ngo off big time. He’s been calling for people to boycott Nguoi Viet, and this is what happened? This is the thanks he got?
Ky Ngo fought back. A handful of his supporters, mostly elderly women who really should know better, stood on their side of the sidewalk and cussed out the soccer fans. “Communists.” “Killers.” “The souls of innocent victims will come get you.”
Some even brought various feng shui charms to ward off the spectators’ evil spirit — which would have been hilarious if it weren’t for the fact that a lot of Vietnamese believe in that stuff.
Ky Ngo was in on the act, screaming that the spectators were communists, too cheap to buy their own coffee, etc.

Some of the fans watching at Nguoi viet were planning payback.
One said, with a pun on the newspaper’s name Nguoi Viet = Vietnamese people: “Nguoi Viet (Vietnamese people) maybe cannot take care of these guys, but regular people sure can.”
At one point, Ky Ngo was screaming at the top of his lung, “Hey, beggars, come here and I give you $5 for coffee.”
One young man in his twenties, long haired and burly, screamed back, “Show it to me, I’ll take it.”
Ky Ngo: “I’ll give it to you if you get on your knees and kowtow to me.”
Young man: “Why don’t you s**k my d**k?”
Ky Ngo: “Oh yeah, why don’t you be a man and come over here.”
And the soccer fan was about to come over there for real, but Nguoi Viet’s security guy stopped him. There’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that if it weren’t for the security, the tall young man would have made mincemeat out of the 5’2″ Ngo.
ive met ky “the communist” ngo back when he was one of the filth that helped to shut down tony lam’s restaurant. i asked him why he had pictures of george bush sr. on his huge picture boards when bush was such an evil man and he refused to talk to me after that and walked away in a huff. i think thats one of the problems with these communists is they refuse to talk to people who dont agree with them. what are they afraid of? also it offends me that my american flag has been cut up to make a jacket that a communist wears in my country. because i am a true american i will let it go and and deal with it as any true american would. the communist ky ngo has that right to mutilate my flag that i hold in such honor. but thats what true americans do, they respect the rights of others even though they dont agree with them. and by the way, this generator thing isnt the communist ky ngo’s first brush with the law. well i’m not too keen on soccer but i sure do love free coffee do you have more details on that?
Free Soccer and Free Coffee is a good move by Nguoi Viet Newspaper. This guy has no job, so a criminal record is nothing to him. He prefers to be “Chi Pheo Bolsa” than works for a living. This guy has no self respect. Or he got paid by the communists to divide our community.
Kudos to Mr. Bolsavik…Since being fired from NV, Mr. B is really reporting what really is happening, telling the truth and the truth only. Keep on the good work!
A dignified person’s subjective mind on how to honor a flag is sufficient for that person to place the flag wherever s/he sees fit, be it on his/her jacket, T shirt, short, skirt, foot bath, car, bicycle, etc. But a criminal will dishonor anything s/he comes close to, be it a flag, a person, a house, or a car, or even a dog!

Although I don’t always agree with the Bolsavik (i.e., his not so “fair and balanced” reporting during the recent Supervisor’s race), this is by far the best Vietnamese-American media outlet. His comments are informative, articulate, and witty. Kudos to you Bolsavik.
If the increasing number of posters is of any indication, this blog is anything but “getting old and tired.” Besides, if you can’t stand the blog, just don’t read it (the same is true for the yahoos who are protesting NV or VW). As to the snide remark re disbarred lawyer (is that the best you have?), we have heard it several times already. Now, that’s getting old and tired.
