This young man, whose name the Bolsavik failed to get (sorry!), showed off his athletic skills while watching the returns at Hoa Van Tran‘s campaign office on election night.
His enthusiasm does not reflect the low number Hoa was getting. The candidate was garnering around 15% of the votes and wasn’t even in the office when the Bolsavik got there, and neither was his boss Phu Do Nguyen. His campaign consultants Edgardo Reynoso and Kimchi Nguyen were there,
though, as were a lot of supporters milling about on the balcony. Paul Lucas, a former Democratic candidate for Assembly and now a controversial figure among Democrats, was heading out just as the Bolsavik pulled in to the parking lot.
Things were a little livelier at Dina Nguyen‘s (pictured right) campaign headquarters, across the street from the Asian Garden Mall (“Phuoc Loc Tho”).
They had set up a wide screen in the hallway, and the results from the Registrar of Voters’ web site were projected from a laptop onto it. In the picture left, the person manning the laptop is the Trannies’ designated McCarthyite-in-chief Hung Phuong Nguyen.
The incumbent Supervisor Janet Nguyen, whose Garden Grove campaign office is way too small to hold any party, had her election night celebration at the Azteca restaurant across Main Street, as she had done for all previous elections.
Somebody brought some Vietnamese food, too. Many local politicians were at Janet’s party, and one Baron Night, RPOC central committee member and candidate for mayor of Buena Park, took the opportunity to work the room. Janet was enjoying a strong 57.2% lead (later reduced to 56.6%) and relief showed on her face.
In the picture below, that’s Janet Nguyen at the food table with Scott Weimer,
her landlord and a member of the Downtown Business Association — the group battling the above-mentioned Hung Phuong Nguyen and other protesters against Viet Weekly for destroying their livelihood.
It’s easy to have fun when you’re winning, and Janet’s gathering was the only one that had any semblance of a party.
One Viet voter there, upon finding who the Bolsavik was, gave him a frank but polite criticism of his decision to print the controversial foot-spa picture. The man also said that he supported Janet Nguyen because he’s incensed at the way other candidates shaded the facts to falsely accuse other Vietnamese-Americans of being communists. Anti-communism, he said (ok, not in so many words, but the Bolsavik is paraphrasing), is serious business and shouldn’t be used for petty purposes.
I knew it!!! I am ecstatic tonight!!! Just glad that justice is served.
Many learned the lesson, but Van Tran is a big loser tonight, tomorrow and forever in any future campaign. In the last few days, he personally get involved into many dirty tricks to fight a desperate battle against Janet. Dina lost the election, but “Godfather” Van Tran went politically bankrupt! Yahooo…!
It’s a slap in the face for Trannies. My guess is Truong Diep will be the next one in line to run against Sup Janet next time. Congratulations to Sup. Janet Nguyen.
Congratulations to Janet Nguyen!
“Anti-communism is serious business and shouldn’t be used for petty purposes.”, yeah, sounds good.
Scorecard:
JANET NGUYEN 20,245 56.6%
DINA NGUYEN 9,918 27.7%
Latest news from Dina/Van Tran camps:
1. Assemblyman Van Tran said “I have here in my hand a list of 20,245 people that were known to me as being members of the Communist Party and who are voting for Janet”.
2. Dina Nguyen with the help of Trung Nguyen will file a complain with county register for recound the vote to settle doubts. Dina declares that the voting result is too close to declare the winner for 1st Sup. District.
3. Assemblyman Van Tran just announced that he will award 3 scholarships for Andrew Nguyen, Andy Quach and Lan Q. Nguyen for Photoshop classes at Golden West college and 1 scholarship for Cindy Tran for medical billing insurance billing.
End of the news flash……………
So congratulation to Janet Nguyen for winning the 1st District Sup. and I hope everyday Janet will remember this quote from John-Madden “Self-praise is for losers. Be a winner. Stand for something. Always have class, and be humble.”

That’s funny stuff Jung., or whoever you are.
If you analyze these results with the 1st Sup race 2 years ago, you’ll see that the Van Machine is losing it’s credibility in the Vietnamese community. In the 1st Sup race 2 years ago, we can come to the conclustion that 1/2 of the Vietnamese community didn’t vote for the Van Machine. In this election, we see that almost 3/4 of the community didn’t vote for the Van Machine. (of course there are non-Viet voters also and we’ll have to look at the final #s more closely to determine how many Viets voted and for whom). But for now, these guys seem to be losing it.
Van should stick to what he does best. He’s a great politician. And WAS a great leader in our community. But he started going in the wrong direction when he got over-zealous and greedy. He set out to “build a machine” and surrounded himself with wannabe politicians who frankly aren’t in his class. They are merely riding his coattails hoping to satisfy their own need for power. Lan can’t speak english. Trung’s a nice guy but is not a leader, and has no charisma. Andy’s corrupt. Dina, as a single mother, should take care of her children rather than search for power/fame/money. Tri and Andew simply don’t have it. Truong Diep is just an ambitious young fella who’s desire to be in politics had gotten him into this power hungry crowd. And ALL of them are into politics for the wrong reasons.
Can anyone honestly point to something great that these guys have done in their years of service? No Communist Zone? Banh Trung? They like to claim that they fight for human rights and democracy in Vietnam. Really? Instead of sitting in their comforts of Little Saigon and chanting Anti-communist slogans, why don’t they form a delegation with congressional leaders and actually go to VN and demand for more rights, freedoms, transparancies? And if they can’t do that, then do the things that CAN affect people’ve lives HERE: health Services, education, public safety, better roads, etc. We hear all these promises during campaigns, but where are the results???
Here’s a noble idea, maybe we as voters ought to begin to hold these guys accountable, and not let them have a free pass just because they’re Vietnamese.
But the sad truth is, they only do what appears good in the headlines, give nice photo ops, and benefit their one self-interests.
So, it doesn’t surprise me that the Van Machine is not running as smoothly as he intended. What Van needs to do is a lot of soul searching. He can still get it right by not being so polarizing. Work with and support other Viets, who don’t necessarily listen to his every command (e.g. Kim-Oanh, Janet, or other future candidates).
Extend an olive branch, show some humility, and he can get back that 3/4 of the community that he’s lost. Keep the current path, and he will one day, dig his own grave.
I hope that the various factions and our community will begin the healing process. This past election has been extremely detrimental to the images of our community with all the silly things from ALL sides that happened.
I also commend Bolsavik for this blog. Although the reporting has occasionally been slanted toward one candidate, the blog has provided readers like me–who don’t work and live in Little Saigon– with valuable “breaking news” about our community. The only negative aspect of this blog is the name-calling comments and personal insults hurled by certain bloggers. This not only distracts from the real debates/issues, it also brings down the value of this blog. Moreover, this gives non-Vietnamese the appearance that there are only loonies in our community. I suggest that people go to established blogs like the Huffington Post or Red County to see how serious people carry serious debates about serious issues. I also suggest that the Bolsavik, like these blogs, insistitute a policy by which he will delete all vulgar or insulting comments.

Dear under achieving ESL students, Janet has not won amongst Viet voters………………..Janet had a successful piggy back ride with white voters using white elected officials endorsements.
First mailers Janet had sent out 3-4 time was a big push for Janet and I think it made the difference in this election……..other than that ,Dina fought well to earn remarkable majority support from the Viet community voters.
I had rather wanted see Dina win the seat but another Viet person in the supe. office is better than remaing choices. ….
I wish the best for Janet and sincerely hoping her immaturity would transfom into respect…..respecting other senior leaders in Viet community so that our political/social position will be enhanced in coming days under the leadership of Assemblyman Van Tran.
Anti viet ESL students need to concentrate in improving their language/working skills in achieving their american dream first before vomiting lying sewer garbages against our most respected community leader Van Tran!
Any smear attack against our good leaders will not be tolerated and again, good luck for both Dina and Janet.
awww only one pic of me i want the one wit me doing one hand =[ lol
wait wth we didnt do any dirty tricks messed up we all hard working pple well for the hours
Recap for politico junkies on this election result is here…..
Janet’ advantages were:
1) Incumbent fund raising capacity……more than 2 times+ of funds raised against candidate Dina ……………and it helped Janet to send massive mailers early and more often. 20-30% advantage for Janet!
2) Pure luck! First Name listed in the ballot ……. It gave Janet another 7- 15% advantage
3) Endorsements …… a traditional custom for the incumbent gave Janet another 20-30% advantage
Janet will probably receive close to only 55-56% of the total votes casted and certainly this is not a land slide win in any terms …………….because the numbers indicate at best, she may have actually tied or even lost against Dina with Viet community voters.
I think Dina has done a good job in this election despite of all these disadvantages. However, the “lucky star” has smiled at Janet in the end. Good job for the both candidates!
Dear Jung Kim:
There’s “spinning” and then there’s just flat-out denial.
The Janet-to-Dina margin is 56.6% to 27.7%. That’s more than double. There’s no way anyone can believe Janet “may have actually tied or even lost against Dina with Viet.”
(At the last election, Janet lost to Trung among Viets by 6%.)
Dear sugarboy:
Good job with the hand stand.
“To belie” does not mean to lie. It means to contradict.
But to avoid any misunderstanding, I’ve changed the text.
hahaha ok w/ez
Dear Jung Kim:
you still mad at me for using your handle name. We are still friend right. My mom just told me that the name Jung Kim is not fitting my personality. So she decideds to call me Junk Kim. Happy now.
under achieving ESL students
Junk Kim aka Jung. Kim
P.S. I would like to thank Bolsavik for allows me praticed my ESL. Thanks again………..sign out.
Bolasvik , check the numbers closely……. it shows mainly Janet had strong showing in non-Viet votes but Dina was showing dominant support among Viet voters only. Hence depends on the total percentage of Viet turn outs, Dina could have done a superb job with Viets.
Hey I am glad you are listening to your mom………and yes, we are still friends but not brothers according to your mom. Use your own last name then I will be happier!
Jung Kim; I do not think you know what you are talking about. you said “Dina was showing dominant support among Viet voters only” a positive statement then you said “hence depends on the …….dina could have…..Viets” a negative/unsure statement. These statement are contradict each other. Anyway; is this matter. the job of 1st District Sup. is represented all the people in the district red, brown, yellow, and even include you.
This was something in reply to what Bolsavik had said regards to my prediction/possibility that Janet has not received a majority votes among Viet voters when it is counted seperately(in computerized print out format). It’s nothing to do with Janet’s election win result or her job capacity of serving all residents from the First District.
Jung Kim aka Dina’s camp,
You guys have a sad case of denial!!! Janet won by a landslide and it’s proven fact that the trannies are loosing major support in the Viet community across the board. Dina is lucky that it’s a low turn out at the booth otherwise Janet will definitely picked up additional votes for sure and it would put the Trannies to shame !!! At this point it’s safe to say Dina and her clans do not have the community’s blessing or their suport. I am just glad I got out of that camp way before it collapsed! Joseph Do Vinh and Nguyen Phuong Hung were not smart enough to see it comming!!
I just very happy that Vietnamese community come together and support the right person. I hope Dina will not become angry of loosing and become destructive and vindictive like her boss Van Tran. I pray she will learn and be better person, beauty on the outside is NOTHING without a good heart, smart and compassionat. Dina has NONE of these qualities and she is arrogant and it’s a scary combination in a woman. She used people and have very low moral so I am very happy that Viet people feel the same and the vote of people yesterday speaks very LOUD their opinion of Dina and Janet Nguyen. I also hope that Janet will continue working and don’t disappoint us like the Van Tran did. We can only hope.
C. Vo can not see the reality with clear eyes …….the land slide victory is like 80% to 20 % result achieved by the Supervisor Bill Campbell.
If only Viets had voted/counted , the winner could have been other way around in this First District race.
Now, Vo is a kind of individual that we really don’t need in our community because he shows no respect and only causes division among our community members with ignorant mind set.
Huong………Assemblyman Van Tran has been representing our interests at Sacramento for many years now and I can only inform you that you and all of us have been benefitting from his hard work/strong leadership at capitol.
It is crucial for all of us to form a united front in advancing our vision in this state by giving support/respect to Assemblyman Va Tran!
wtf we all worked hard nd had to leave so there were less pple helping out u stupid pple bs to much get a freakin life
Sugarmuffin, do you speak to your parents this way?
nooo but u got no rights to bs like this messed up talk smack about me up there screw u
o yea not funny making fun of my nickname
w/ez not going back to this site ever again
Jung Kim keep insisted that with only Viets had voted/counted , the winner should be Dina Nguyen. OK…OK ; I declare Dina Nguyen as Bolsa District Supervisor. She will represent 10 “quan nhau” in her district. So congratulation to Dina and here a Budweiser for you. Dina; you want light or regular?
Bolsavik,
Im only controversial among about 4 or 5 Democrats. You of all people should know not to put too much stock into comments from anonymous posters on blogs.
That being said, the results of last night will have some interesting results in the 1st District. Now that there is now BOS race to be won by any side, the GOP is not likely to spend alot of time and money on Voter Registration Drives. Janet will become the new Boss Tweed (a la Chris Prevatt) in Central OC. The Vietnamese Community will be divided among age groups more so than among Trannies and Janies. Janet has a pretty solid relationship with the VSA ad other such groups whcih tend to lean Democratic.
I predict that by the next Presidentil Election in 2012 we will see the dominance of the GOP among the Vietnmese Community sunset and a Democratic Majority will be the new paradigm in the Viet Community.
Paul
By year 2010, we might see Janet registering democrats.
Paul Lucas,
You should be ashame of yourself. You like the Trannies are in total denial. You truly believe that you are only controversial with a few dems? What a joke!!! most of us Viets don’t even know who u are but we do know that you teamed up with Dina and the Trannies to try to bring down Janet, which is NOT only low, it’s humiliating to your Dem party as well as yourself!!! I think you should refrain yourself from making any comments in reference to the Sup race since you dont’ qualify. Like a few non-viets who are mislead to believe that the Trannies are the above the law, YOU will wake up soon to find out that you are no long wanted in your Party/community and you are DEFINITELY NOT APPRECIATED IN OUR VIET TOWN. You contributed to the division of the Viet community and like the Trannies, YOU PLAY DIRTY
I think Paul is telling the truth…………. he has his name posted.
Wow ! the winners are : Janet Nguyen , the silent majority of the Vietnamese community and God ; the losers are : Van Tran , Lan Nguyen and Dina Nguyen and the whole bunch of BS ! Hahaha !!!
hiho hiho hiho ! janet nguyen , van tran , lan nguyen , dina nguyen are all communists ! too bad !!! sorry , VC do not want them !!!
Hi anonymous ,
Sorry that Van Tran has no soull ! he simply has an empty brain and a loud mouth ; mostly he is useless in the Viet community !!!
Read my posting and repent………..Assemblyman Van Tran is a good man!
Hi Jung Kim ,
I disagree with you ; I am no fan of any candidate , but I don’t think Van Tran is the right person for the vietnamese community .
Dear reality:
I don’t think Van Tran has an “empty brain.” I think most people who have had direct contact with Van will agree with me that Van is a smart and politically savvy individual.
He has faults, deep and hard-core faults, that cause most other intelligent people to fall out, leaving him with a crowd of mostly unhelpful hangers-on. But I believe most people would not call Van Tran a fool.
Bolsavik, if you are talking about witch hunting when you said ” ..deep and hard -core faults” you are covering just about whole population on this earth.
Yes it will include sinners like me and Bolsavik…….we all have deep and hard-core faults but we don’t have the qualities or the abilities to become a California Assemblyman to lead this community …..at least not right now. Therefore it’s our best interest to support our Representative Van Tran with utmost trust and love.
JUNG KIM,
. . . YOUR JOB WAS TO TRY TO MAKE HER LOOKS GOOD BUT YOU FAIL BY MAKING ALL THESE STUPID COMMENTS ON THESE BLOGS. LUCKY FOR YOU, SHE DIDN’T PUT YOU TO SLEEP AFTER THE ELECTION
REALLY, YOU CAN STOP BARKING NOW SINCE YOUR DINA DIDN’T TURN OUT TO BE SUCH A GOOD CANDIDATE NOR POPULAR
TLC you can stop honking with your rear, unsanitary methane exhaust leak hole. The EPA might fine you for the pollution charges next to your heavy weight methane polluting cow, Janet.
Lucky for you……….you didn’t get drowned in your heavy weight cow’s watermellon sized dongs pool.
JUNG KIM,
YOUR COMMENTS KEEP GETTING MORE & MORE STUPID EVERYDAY. YOU SOUNDED LIKE A MAD DOG IS BEING UNLEASHED BY DINA TO LET OUT HER FRUSTRATION
HA…HA…HA…
TLC, I am glad your stinky fingers are busy at cooking more meaty pho soups for Janet family’s midnight real estate transaction deals.
JUNG KIM,
WHY DOES ONE HAS TO BE JANET’S FANS TO DISLIKE DINA? I JUST DON’T LIKE DING DONG DINA PERIOD. I DON’T EVEN LIVE IN THE FIRST DISTRICT SO I DIDN’T EVEN VOTE FOR JANET. HOWEVER, I STILL CAN THROW YOU SOME BONES AFTER I’M DONE WITH THE PHO… SO COOL IT BOY…COOL IT
TLC ask your son why…………… hello ? where is cavities inside of your heavy skull? Janet and Dina ran for the same position and therefore they were political enemies during the campaign trail!
Only thing that is cooling off is your sagging huevos in your pocket and you can keep them un noticed all by your self!
JUNG KIM,
DON’T GO ASSUMED THAT EVERYBODY HAVE TO BE ON JANET’S SIDE TO DISLIKE YOUR SISTER. I PERSONALLY DON’T LIKE HER BECAUSE I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT SHE IS AND WHAT SHE COULD DO TO PEOPLE BEHIND THEIR BACK. YOU’RE HER RELATIVE SO YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS . . . IF YOU DON’T KNOW ANY DIFFERENCE THEN KEEP ON BARKING AND I’D JUST KEEP TELLING YOU TO ” SHUT UP “
YOU’RE AS DING DONG AS YOUR SISTER ! ! ! BEFORE YOU DECIDED TO ANSWER THE QUESTION, MAY BE YOU SHOULD READ THE QUESTION CAREFULLY
