What did the Bolsavik tell you about Vietnamese not really being conservative? The (admittedly unscientific but so far pretty darn close to accurate) “OC Political Pulse” poll on the Register’s web site here shows that, of the 10 Vietnamese-American participants in that poll:
* 70% support gay marriages (but even so don’t consider it a deal breaker and may vote for an opponent of gay marriages).
* 20% oppose gay marriages, but also not a deal breaker.
* Only 10% (1 voter) feels so strongly about gay marriages that s/he would vote against someone with a different view. That person opposes gay marriage.
That’s the view as of Wednesday evening, with a total of 206 voters. Click on the small picture on the right to see full sized picture.
Now if there’s an email campaign (like this one) to drive the numbers one way or the other, that’s another matter.
The Bolsavik was a little surprised by the 70% number, though. He was expecting something more like the general population; 55-45 or so. Obviously, the small sample size (10 people) and the self-selecting nature of the group has a lot to do with it.
I oppose gay marriage, because it’s against the nature. I tend to throw up if seeing 2 guys kissing each other. 2 gays or lesbians can live quietly together but official marriage like regular couple is not acceptable. I believe that most Vietnamese are still conservative like me. That poll is very wrong.
I tend to throw up when I see/read minorities discriminate.
I don’t believe this poll either. Although I do not hate gay people everyone agrees it is not a natural “thing”.
A sheer picture of two men on same bed …… is not acceptable to most viet population and remember, the average life expectancy of gay men are only 48 years due to unsanitary sexual activities!

and declare something that against the nature is a BIGGER term that somebody should think twice before to shout it out.
and we as human still everyday learn and discover and understand and finally accept the phenomenon of nature .
why do the gay or lesbian couple cannot marry officially just ” regular ” married couples do? why do they share the benefit that “regular” couple do. just because they are different than us, not mean that they are mot belong to among of us , and they do contribute to society and a lot of them are doing much better than the regular ones.

Sure, everyone agrees. Oh wait, we’re forgetting homosexuals, supporters of gay rights, and a substantial number of liberals. So ease up on the hyperboles. It’s fairly pervasive in nature.
As for unsaninatary sexual activities, this is easily the funniest comment I’ve read on here for so many reasons. (If you haven’t tried “unsaninatary sexual activities” with Mrs. Kim, you’re missing out.)
And the data referenced is flawed re: life expectancy, but bigots tend to believe any mirage. You may go back to reading Nietzsche if it makes you feel better.
Nonetheless, I respect the various opinions, even if formed from manufactured and unsupported evidence.

I think people now are becoming open when it comes to same sex marriage. Though the issue is a lot to take in. There are still communities that are not in favor of it but we can’t deny that homosexuals are somehow accepted in our society today. I have nothing against them. There are no different to any ordinary female-male couple.
Let’s make a correction to your statement ayano,…….. people might be open to gay living style as long as that relationship doesn’t include THEIR OWN family members. Which means people are still not supportive of gay living style!
