The Director of Planning for the city of San Jose held a hearing yesterday morning about the hanging of “Welcome to Little Saigon” banner, and tentatively decided to allow 18 banners along Story Road.
As the meeting came to an end and the public comment session was ended, however, the supporters of “Little Saigon” became rowdy and started screaming and yelling. Director Joe Horwedel (pictured above, on right) called an end to the meeting, a staffer ran out to get more police to do crowd control, but the crowd dispersed with no incidents, other than people yelling “Recall Madison” Nguyen and “Recall Chuck Reed” – the mayor.

I think the whole idea is silly. It’s devisive. What next? Little India? Little Tijuana?… Look at Freeway 22 in Orange County now. They have Koreatown sign right next to Little Saigon sign.
Does anyone know why the concrete “Little Saigon” sign in Santa Ana was removed? This one located on First St near Newhope street. This concrete monument was damaged and repaired several time. Not sure if it was vandalized or hit by car.
Anh Tu has a point. The area on Story Road is actually not all that Vietnamese. It’s not at all like Bolsa Avenue where almost all stores between Magnolia and Brookhurst are Vietnamese.
Within the 3/4 miles that’s the so-called “Vietnamese” area, there are a Wal-Mart, a Quick Stop, a Save-Mart, one Lucy’s Tamale Factory, one “Lumpia & BBQ” (which you really ought to try), a Taco Bell, a McDonald’s, a Togo’s, etc.
Once the permanent rules are in place for people to put up banners, watch property owners put up whatever banners they want, easily eclipsing the “Welcome to Little Saigon” sign.

People have the right to voice their wishes. Do your research, one , two article clips won’t tell you everything. Going back in late 2007 until now. Over 2500 people lining up and down infront of city hall, try to make their voices heard…and they feel that they are being ignored, they feel they are being betrayed by the person that they voted for. Here the thing : The city council woman created problem for herself. Once she realized the name “little saigon” is something that people want for, once she realized that she made a mistake. When the people pointed out that something she has said in public meeting and she denied that she never said…They got proved that she did….It is easy enough to publicly saying something like …”hey, I made a mistake, I am sorry or I didn’t remember saying that but now you got proved, I am so very sorry..” and I think the whole thing wouldn’ be like what it is now…
She went on public television, saying : the people that protest against her are people have the time, people have jobs won’t do that. she said that in vietnamese, and that remark could be translated into many different ways…People feel as she “nhuc ma cong dong”…putting her own people down while they were the people put her in the office….
The clip that the Bolsavik showed was the one that the city council woman gave the speech at UC Davis, at the opening, the speaker introduced her said she called the council woman and invited her to give the speech and council woman said “that she is not coming because she is afraid of the protest people…then laughed and said I will come..” another wrong thing to do…the video showed to Public and again it seems as she is challenging the People, her people !!!!
As public figure, she needs to learn how to be humble, to listen to the people, not to challenge them. In one of the video clip from her own fund raising for anti-recall , she made this remark something like : “…I made a mistake but I will be stronger. people learned from the mistake and they will be stronger” Very good, it’s improving…but where is ” I am sorry to the public”….
I am not for recall or anti-recall…I am an obsever…my observation : it is sad that she seems to be a strong and agressive young lady but she is lacking of manner. She might be smart but not smart enough to be a politician. Even the President says sorry to the people at time, other public official quick to say sorry when they realize they made the mistake….It is very to gain the trust from the community but it is very easily to loose their trust.
Also,think about it, during election, the candidate & her supporter begging the people for their votes, regardless old or young, educated or not. Well she got their votes…..now turned right around and calling them ” the people without job and having all the time on their hands”…you don’t burn the bridge when you just crossed them.
As you mentioned to make a public statements against the group of people asking for democracy…Jung Kim, good luck and make sure post your picture and your real name and allowing the public to submit comments also. Don’t hide behind the monitor and preaching of good manner and good behaviors…

What I am telling you here is that it’s a important matter for us to find out in fact Madison has no or less respect for our seniors. If Madison has merely slipped her tongue………we can call it a little mistake or a miscommunication problem due to lack of her mother language skills.
