The first candidate has confirmed – though not through any official announcement – that she’s running for Garden Grove City Council. That would be Robin Marcario, the president of the Central Garden Grove Neighborhood Association, and it’s not the first time she’s running.
Photoshop-man Trung Nguyen, the serial litigant failed candidate for county supervisor and wild red-baiter who’s currently a member of the Garden Grove school board, is supposed to run for the seat.
Two seats on the Garden Grove City Council are up this year. Incumbent Mark Rosen is not running for re-election, and appointee Steve Jones is rumored to not run either.
A friend of Marcario’s announced her candidacy on Facebook. Marcario then confirmed it in an email to the Bolsavik. Robin Marcario, however, may or may not present much of a challenge. In the 2006 elections won by Dina Nguyen and Bruce Broadwater, Marcario came in 6th in a field of 8, behind Lac Tan Nuygen, who had changed the spelling of his last name. In 2004, when Janet Nguyen and Mark Rosen won, Marcario arrived 6th out of 9, two places behind Paul (Tuong Thang) Tran, who’s also rumored to be interested in running this year.

The best thing for GG is to have as many Vietnamese candidates as possible. Let them cancel each other out. We have capable representation of the Vietnamese community on the GG council already. The correct translation for good leadership has to come from one’s pure heart’s willingness to serve his/her community and I believe Trung Nguyen has that certain geniune quality in him!
Your perception of our political land scape can be partially true due to diversion of ideologies roaming around the Bolsa town but generally speaking, many elected Viet officials are doing a fine job and Trung Nguyen is a perfect individual to serve our GG residents.
Having said that if you find there is a area to grow or improve in our local Viet community politics , we will welcome your participation/input with happy heart.
Rightfully Trung Nguyen is the front runner in this race and has good name ID as an elected official with solid pro- family value.
