Florida’s Quoc Ba Van campaigning hard

While the list of a dozen Vietnamese vying for one elected office or another in Orange County is not even finalized yet, over in Florida congressional candidate Quoc Ba Van (pictured) is facing his ultimate test in just 13 more days: The Florida congressional primary is August 26.

Read the Bolsavik’s previous story on Quoc Ba Van here.

The champion weight-lifter, Emory University School of Law graduate, and former local valeditorian from Sanford, Florida is facing a daunting task. He’s in a pack of 5 Democratic challengers, one of which had won the primary in 2006 and lost to the incumbent Ric Keller by only 6 percentage points.

And he hasn’t raised too much money. His financial disclosures here show that he has raised on $2,420 this election cycle, mostly small donations under $100. He has lent his campaign $1,050.

But obstacles like that don’t deter the over-achieving locally born and bred son of Vietnamese immigrants. In response to the Bolsavik’s query how the campaign is going, Quoc Ba Van said simply, “We are going to win.”

Sticking to his motto that “I’m gonna just outwork them,” Van has been going to every townhall, attending every debate, appearing on radio and TV and tirelessly walking precinct.

And, as shown in the photo taken from his Facebook page, working the highways.
