The Westminster City Council’s delay in considering the bridge across Bolsa Avenue (read here) may cause a rift between OC Supervisor Janet Nguyen and her ally Westminster Mayor Margie Rice, according to a story by Deepa Bharath in the OC Register, here.
The delay was apparently caused by one word in the letter sent by OC’s CEO Thomas Mauk, in which he mentioned “negotiations” between the County and the City — negotiations that the City insisted hasn’t taken place. “Talked,” yes, “negotiated,” no. Potaytoh, potahtah, but that’s how local politics works.
Well, according to Bharath, some people were unhappy. Janet Nguyen was quoted as threatening to take the Proposition 1B money that’s allocated for the bridge and give it to other projects. Margie Rice threatened to take back her endorsement of Andrew Do — Janet’s chief of staff and candidate for Garden Grove City Council.
There’s no sign the tempest hasn’t abated in this teapot.
Well here you go. A Preview of whats to come from Andrew Do and Janet Nguyen if he gets in the seat in GG. Bridge Burning left and right. Political Isolation. Ineffective representation.
Janet again is showing her bad temper…..we must raise our children right from their young tender ages!
Carpet bagger Andrew Do needs to concentrated on his sandwich shop in Stanton more.. I think his business is not doing so well in these days.
LOL I justs aw Trung Nguyen on TV at the GOP Convention.
Yeah he was picking his nose on CNN LMAO!!!!
Laugh now and he will be your next councilman in 2 months.
Go Trung!
Picking nose Janet and Do were exhausting methane gas the other night in the front of my house.
Not too much of damages were done …except my plants are all dead and some permanent brown stains have appeared on the front lawn.
Crying Andrew Do missed the OC GOP endorsement by 100 miles and our cranky Janet participated in national GOP convention alone ……………………. in her own living room (GOP did not invited her to the convention!).
What is going on with our lofty Fifth Floor representations now days?
Let’s make one thing clear to you guys (and gals. The blame for Linh Ho not getting the endorsement lays at the feet of Alicia Berhow, Gila Jones, and Linh Ho herself.
I was there. The first mistake was the Endorsement committee recommendation to endorse Linh Ho and Robin Marcario. Two people we don’t even know.
This was a huge mistake right off the bat for two reasons. First, they wanted to throw Lucas whom we all know, and have counted on in the past every time someone needed help. He was there. No one knew Robin and Linh Ho.
The second and most damaging mistake was having Alicia Berhow speak on behalf of Linh Ho. She tried to throw Paul Lucas under the bus and then prop up Linh Ho.
First, everyone already hates Alicia Berhow. Second, hen she threw Lucas under the bus that clinched it for Linh Ho. Anything Alicia was for, they were against. That’s how Robin got a higher vote count than did Linh Ho.
Following that, Gila Jones got up and spoke on behalf of Linh Ho. Mistake one. Everyone hates Gila Jones. Second, she told the crowd that basically Linh Ho was using the City of Garden Grove as a springboard to higher office. BASICALLY, SHE TOLD EVERYONE THAT Linh HO WAS OUTTA HERE ASAP AND WANTED TO USE THE DPOC TO CATIPULT HER TO HIGHER OFFICE!
Last and final mistake was Linh Ho herself. She sang the wrong song tot he wrong crowd. And she did it with a tremble in her voice. No confidence in her speech at all. People saw a weakling, being promoted by hated people, looking for higher office.
Strike One Two and Three.
If the DPOC wanted to help Linh Ho, they would have recommended Linh Ho and Lucas for the endorsement.
Period End of Story…
The people revolted and sent the elitists packing.
Wow Coach: where have you been hiding?
I like your descriptions – don’t know Linh Ho – but Robin Marcario has been around for years. Attends the city council meetings, tries to help her constituents; is a nice person. I don’t think she has the correct “thought process” to be a conservative thinker or the appropriate personality to deal with the others current’y on the council but I wish her luck. She does have staying power. She does care about her City. She has participated in the neighborhood associations for YEARS. She is a frequent speaker on many subjects at council meetings. She is “unoffensive” which may be the thing I like best about her with so many others that are so offensive that are running for council
oh, and why are we talking about Robin and the GG City Council endorsements under this topic?
Because Vivian Kirkpathetic thinks she is a smart farming ass!
American Woman,
Robin is known in GG and in her Neighborhood Association I am sure. I was referring to her not being well known at the DPOC which is a totally separate body. Robin may be friendly and nice and a frequent participant in things but she is not known at the DPOC. That’s all. In fact she gave a pretty good pitch. And for that reason she got more votes than did Lin Ho.
I know I didn’t get a call from either Lin Ho or Robin Marcario regarding the endorsement at the DPOC. They both should have been working the room and the list before the meeting to introduce themselves to the body of the DPOC.
Lin Ho had and impressive list of support and a pretty good background from what she said. But the fact is that she was basically hurt beyond repair by those who spoke on her behalf.
In fact, the same group did nothing to support Robin Marcario. They didn’t even mention her name at all. Those people that were supposedly supporting Robin and Lin basically only supported Lin ho and used Robin to muck up the vote for Paul.
It didn’t work. And only those who supported Lin Ho and not Robin are to blame for that. When the second vote came around, there were just simply not enough votes to garner the 60% needed. I would have liked to have seen a majority vote on that one since it was a do-over and there was a second endorsement to be had. In that vote I think that Lin Ho did not have a strong enough speech to garner the one vote she needed to get there. And Robin had a good pitch. But in this one she got fewer votes than Lin Ho did.
I think that Robin should have gotten the endorsement over Lin Ho by the virtue that she has been active in her community for a long time. Her major drawback is that she did not have a history or even try to familiarize herself with the DPOC central committee. But to be honest I cannot blame her for that as the Central Committee is a pretty dysfunctional body.
So in the end, those supporting Robin on the surface did not help her in reality. In fact I don’t get the feeling they even cared about Robin to begin with other than to throw a wrench into the process to try and secure the endorsement for Lin Ho. And they simply went about it the wrong way.
