Unsolicited advice to newly elected Congressman Anh Joseph Cao

What’s the first thing that Congressman Anh Joseph Cao ought to do?

U.S. Rep. Cao, the former Jesuit seminarian, should ask the Vietnamese Embassy for a visa to travel to Hanoi to join the Catholics of Thai Ha in prayer.

That would be a win-win situation for Cao, regardless of whether visa is granted, and a lose-lose situation for the Communist Party of Vietnam.

What are they gonna do? Allow the protestors to mingle and pray with a U.S. elected official? Or reject the visa request and look all “not in with it” with the first Viet Congressman?

This piece of unsolicited advice is brought to you by mischief-maker extraordinaire Bolsavik.

  1. Tien Huynh says:

OMG! No, no, no, Mr. Bolsavik. The Vietnamese government is waiting for an opportunity to welcome Mr. Cao and grant him some title such as “The honorary citizen of Vietnam”, or “The great friend of Vietnamese people”, or “The great honor of the Vietnamese people”, etc…But, then some “anti-communist nationalists” would speculate that Mr. Cao must be a communist sympathizer. Some chemistry PhD holder might have the impression that Mr. Cao must have had some connections with the Vietnamese government, etc…Of course, this is just an unfounded speculation. However, this already happened to many people of Vietnamese descent, the probability of the above speculation is very high.

  2. Thuy Le says:

People of VN descent, especially the ones who grew up here and actually understand what they study, do not believe in speculations and unfounded accusations. They state their claim and back them up with links of printed news from reliable sources.

Look at the links in the previous section, First Viet Congressman ever! Joseph Anh Cao beat William Jefferson. Articles printed by LA Times and professional journal. Those are irrefutable.

    http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/west/2003/06/10/29634.htm

And don’t forget personal investigative research by peer politician:

    http://paullucas2008.com/times.asp

This person cannot print falsehood because he would be liable for defamation.

People who deny the reliability of these articles have an ulterior motive to deceive the good citizens of Little Saigon and the greater community.

  3. Jung Kim says:

We pray for God’s wisdom on Mr.Cao’s future role as a first Viet American congressman.
Please dismantle communism ideology with greater non traditional approach……… we are with you.

  4. Tien Huynh says:

    @Thuy Le:

“People of VN descent, especially the ones who grew up here and actually understand what they study, do not believe in speculations and unfounded accusations. They state their claim and back them up with links of printed news from reliable sources.”

The above assertion can be easily rebutted by the admission of a person of VN descent who has a PhD in Chemistry from UCSD: “Bribery? That’s a pretty serious accusation. Any proof? ‘We’re not the police,’ Le said, ‘we can’t do investigation, so we don’t have evidence, but our strong impression is that she must have taken bribes.’” Bolsavik Blog, July 15th, 2008. http://bolsavik.com/?p=305

Currently, there are some people of VN descent in OC standing on street near groceries stores (dda^`u ddu*o*`ng xo’ cho*.), stating their claims without backing them with anything. Bolsavik Blog, December 4th, 2008. http://bolsavik.com/?p=444#more-444

  5. Art Pedroza says:

The best thing Cao can do at this point is quit the GOP and become a Democrat. Otherwise the Dems will take him out in two years.

  6. Thuy Le says:

    @ Tien Huynh

I am referring to the majority, not absolutely. Would you include an idiot like Jung Kim in the general normal VN populace? Absolutely not, a freak of nature and an outlier, so you would remove him from normal standard grouping.

So the two examples you cite could not be representative for all people of VN descent educated and living here. They are either outliers or your sampling pool is too small and not systematically random

  7. Tien Huynh says:

97% of 49,425 votes wanted the Viet communist flag removed from a private academic institution. http://www.ocregister.com/articles/flag-university-community-2002686-nguyen-communist

About 5,000 people signed recall petition in San Jose (led by a recall committee headed by a PhD holder who accused people by impression.) http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_10681011?nclick_check=1

These people are not outliers. They represent a large number of people of VN descent.

  8. pho 75 says:

    Politic is local.

He better takes care his own people from his own district or else he will be booted out after one term.

Once he establish the trust from the district then he can involve other issues.

Best wishes to you Mr. Cao

  9. Thuy Le says:

You’re jumping from one topic to another. The flag issue is preference oriented, not supporting your claim that Viets act on speculation and unfounded accusation. The second link does not work.

  10. Tien Nguyen says:

Tien Huynh, are you not among the many who use legitimate news to support your claim? Supports what Thuy Le is saying, right?

  11. Jung Kim says:

Art Pedroza is one of the worst animal living off on negative motives.
Take him to the dark chamber.

  12. Jung Kim says:

Thuy Le has low IQ….. he has low brain capacity.

  13. Jung Kim says:

Tien Huynh is correct. His statement makes the most sense.

  14. Tien Huynh says:

From Thuy Le’s statement, “People of VN descent,… , do not believe in speculations and unfounded accusations,” is raised an issue which is whether people of VN descent believe in speculations and unfounded accusations.

Some people may say yes, some people may say no, in my humble opinion, the following answer would be more accurate: “A large number of people of VN descent DO believe in speculations and unfounded accusations.”

  15. Thuy Le says:

    @ Tien Huynh

If you state an opinion, then it is only that, and we all respect that, not that your statement holds weight. Everyone is free to hold an opinion.

  16. No Bogus says:

Art Pedroza, it’s going to be hard for Cao to switch parties since the GOP did put in a lot of resources into his race. It may be better for his political career and makes total sense, but he’s going to make a lot of enemies.

Regardless, let’s hope he fights for the right issues and associates with the right people, and not like the wannabe congressman we have here in OC – Van Tran, who likes to associate with gang members and convicted felons and criminals:

  17. Jung Kim says:

Hey Art Pedroza keep talking to yourself………………… your pathetic smear campaign tactic will not work with our highly respected Assemblyman and all of our viet voters will take wasteful latinos out of their misearable offices! Got it idiot?

  18. Jung Kim says:

Art Pedroza is well known for his bogus stories…keep screaming you are not bogus but I believe you are the extreme racist against our viets! Go lick do you hear?

  19. Pedro Delgado says:

Those are real newspaper articles. How are they bogus?

  20. Country First says:

Interview: First Vietnamese American Elected to Congress

    * Now that you have political clout, what are you going to do for your community?

I will continue working on getting a retirement center for the elderly Vietnamese in New Orleans. That aside, we are going to work toward developing an urban farm for the Vietnamese community.

    * What is the message you would like to give your community here?

I would like more young people to get involved in politics and bring changes we want in Vietnam.

    * Like what?

We’re concerned about human rights violations, issues of democracy and lack of religious freedom.

  21. Why Mr Anh Cao says:

Mr Anh Cao’s platform was coastal restoration, levee protection, healthcare, and education improvement. What about communist infiltration and anti-Viet talk? I am totally surprised that Mr. Anh Cao could miss the REAL issues (which the local Viet politicans are keenly aware and address daily) and get the Viet votes.

Maybe explains why we don’t have one in Congress.

  22. No Bogus says:

@Country First and Why Mr. Anh Cao,
Cao sounds like an honest man. Based on his platform, Cao sounds more like a Democrat. As a Republican, he has to be move left of center. With a 60% Democratic district and a barely 3% Vietnamese population, he has to be more moderate.

Now that I think about it, I hope he has Democratic leaning African American individuals on his staff, and it may be more beneficial for him to switch parties after a year.

    @Pedro,
Jung Kim is a bogus name, he lives in his own bogus world, and can only understand and speak of bogus information. Jung Kim is bogus. And he is also a bozo.

  23. No Bogus says:

Oops, I forgot to include the links for bozo/bogus Jung Kim to read again. I think he and his friends are accusing the LA Times and Insurance Journal of spreading lies, being sympathetic to communists, and being anti-Vietnamese.

  24. Jung Kim says:

Yeah… Why can’t you use your pathetic trash name like Art Pedroza from Santa Ana barrio who’s goal is to undermine good viet republican leaders.

People save their spit on you because you are worth less than a scum. Got it idiot?

By the way….. how is your imaginary SA council seat?

  25. Jung Kim says:

Potato tomato burrito go lick Lou and Loretta you ugly stray doggy Art Pedroza!

  26. Jung Kim says:

I think Shameful loser Art Pedroza raised $75 for his council race…all in pesos!

  27. Jung Kim says:

Santa Ana city council race result 08′

Carlos Bustamante (Republican) votes received 26,258 —– winner

Arturo “Art” Pedroza (No Bogus) ” 10,231 ——-loser

still upset with viet community due to lack of viet support/endorsements!

  28. Jung Kim says:

Evidently republican candidate Carlos Bustamante had all elected viet support/endorsements and since the election date the ultimate loser Art Pedrosa has strong resentment against OC republican viet community. Get lost Art!

  29. No Bogus says:

I’m not Art Pedroza. But I do know that Jung Kim is a buffoon, and Van Tran is a good friend and life partner of gang members and convicted felons and criminals.

  30. Jung Kim says:

Hey Art aka No Bogus, you are the bogus idiot on this blog. Defending your latino friends sitting happy in high chairs.

We will vote out Lou and Loretta with our viet candidates in 2 short years!

  31. Jung Kim says:

Poor Arturo received zero support from our viet community for good reason.

  32. Jung Kim says:

His job is to discount potential viet candidates with lies…………… read my lips idiot our voters will support Assemblyman Van Tran despite of your pathetic lunatic efforts! Got it short one?

  33. Jung Kim says:

Arturo only to shut is your liquid leaking hole between your legs. Go talk to your gang bangers in Sata Ana cells.

  34. Jung Kim says:

Really, you are afraid we are going to take over your lazy latino seats.

  35. Jung Kim says:

Even Janet gave your challenger Carlos her endorsement and for again, good reason…..

Carlos creamed you by 10000 votes!

  36. Jung Kim says:

Arturo de Bogus, Keep posting until your latino gangs get removed from the office. We can’t wait!
