“Cross-Dressing Bandit” is a Viet

Viets make for some of the most colorful criminals ever. (So proud!) This Vietnamese man, who pleaded guilty to robbing nine banks across two states, did it while dressed as a woman.

Huy Trong Luong, 40, pleaded guilty on March 31 in federal court in Camden, New Jersey. He admitted to robbing banks in New Jersey and Connecticut and getting away with more than $39,000.

The Bolsavik calculates this out to a measly $44,000 per bank. Tough time all around…

During each of the heist, Luong donned a curly-black wig, makeup and bright-red lipstick, a black Dolce&Gabbana hat, according to the Star-Ledger here and here. The photo to the right is from a security camera.

In Chatham, New Jersey, he allegedly handed the teller at Commerce Bank a note demanding cash. However, according to the Star-Ledger, however, Luong “fled empty handed when the teller yelled for help, and officers responding to a 911 call moments later saw a green minivan leaving the area that matched the description provided by bank employees.”

After the heist, Luong was stopped by an officer but he let him go. And get this:

Moments later, the officer received more information from officers at the bank, and the same cop was able to find and catch Luong again, still driving the same green minivan!

Under the terms of the plead agreement, Luong faces up to about seven years in prison.

That’s the first thing I look for in robbing a bank, a green minivan – a vehicle that is slow, not so manuverable, conspicuous, and downright ugly.

For future bank robbers, try the trabant!
