Proving once again that Vietnamese smoke too much, a Viet man used a sword to rob a Dallas-area 7-Eleven of money and cigarettes, reports the McKinney Courier-Gazette here.
Police was called to a 7-Eleven in McKinney, Texas, after a sword-wielding man dressed in black robbed the place at about 2:41 a.m. on Wednesday.
The knight-in-black allegedly demanded money and cigarettes.
Just four minutes later, police spotted Phong Thanh Nguyen, 22 (pictured), driving a car matching exactly the description and license plate as reported by the store clerk.
They discovered a sword, money and merchandise in the car and took him in.
Phong is booked on a charge of first-degree aggravated robbery and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
If convicted, he faces a prison term between 5 and 99 years or life.
5, 99, or life for pack of cigarettes, what’s the looser?
I wouldn’t put him in jail, instead make him smoke his lung out to death.
And people wonder why things are so strict in Vietnam? Its because lot of Vietnamese just have really poor self control. I don’t know if its their genes or their upbringing but something is not right.
Just read all these stories of Vietnamese (mostly men) and their deviant and criminal behavior…..
‘…..its because lot of Vietnamese just have really poor self control.’
Also poor judgment. Forgot to mention that.
Good reminder, one more time, “If we adhered to MORALITY, neither the French nor the communists could dominate us!” – Late author Hoang Van Chi’
Are we taking things out of context here? You have one idiot, whom happens to be Vietnamese that committed a very stupid act. Idiots come in all shape, size, gender and race.
@ Tien Huynh:
Isn’t that most of the battle? On the topic of ethics and morality, the VN culture is still in the stone age from what I have seen. We don’t have the courage or strength to face our own shortcoming, so the self lying catches up and destroys the entire group.
This is purely my humble observation.
@ Pillar Point Man
On the bright side, there are worse cultures. Try the Eastern Europeans – they have no concept of ethics and morality. Theirs is about might is right! President Ronald Reagan was completely right in his statement.
I am guessing ethics and morality exist in all cultures, and it is application of those principles that shapes the moral compass of our society.
I tend to agree with Billy Jack. An easy and good environment may foster those principles; a tough, survival instinct oriented environment may diminish them.
Tien, how about a good family educational support coupled with love and discipline.
sorry jung kim but you’re the last person who should speak about love and discipline.
jose, you don’t need to be sorry for yourself ……. because we know you are a more idiot than this dude. He doesn’t lick!
But he has your eyes, lips and nose……..
@Jung Kim
As a general rule, good children usually come from good family. “… a good family educational support coupled with love and discipline…” would be an ideal environment.
This totally prove cigaratte is very addictive. Look what it has done to a fine young man……….with a quarter of his brain left…………..
This is so sad. This guy prolly has a mental problem. If so, he need treatment, not jail time. I used to live near this crazy guy in San Jose who drove to coffee shop and just sat there drinking coffee all by himself. We all knew he’s mentally not right up there.
@ Eric Ly
Viets up in San Jose are spacey and feel that they are somehow more enlightened than the ones in SCAL. I was up there a couple of weeks ago hanging out at the two Viet malls. Too much MJ does that to the brain like your non-Viet counterparts! Then again I digress…
PS, the supposed Viet food up there has that fantastic fusion taste about it. The only claim SJ has is the large Viet population outside of Little Saigon. Hahaha.
I used to frequent a tiny restaurant “Ca Mao”, on Santa Clara Street and fourth Street, for steamy hot Bun Bo Hue, with a extra thick layer of spicy grease. Cheap price for a hearty meal.
Otherwise, Nha Trang at Lion Plaza would have to be my favorite family diner. Their Ca Kho had certain unforgettable aroma of salty burned fish source and fresh tender fish meat. A cozy and relaxed atmosphere
I wonder how they are doing now ?
