Proving that it’s wise not to put all eggs in one basket, especially one that’s hard to get, Assemblyman Van Tran is keeping alive his campaign for the seat to be vacated by termed-out State Senator Tom Harman.

Last week, Tran filed the Form 410 with the Secretary of State here, providing him with something to fall back on just in case his ambitions to go to D.C. don’t pan out. This is the same race for which Tran filed his statement of intent way back in January – read more here.
Harman’s seat is theoretically not up until 2012, but Harman has filed an intent to run for state Attorney General in 2010 – and if Harman wins, then Tran seems to say that other Republicans better stay out of his way. He yielded once before, to Lynn Daucher; ain’t yielding again.
The 35th Senate District covers Orange County’s central coast and reaches into Little Saigon, almost touching but not quite getting to the main shopping area known as Phuoc Loc Tho or Asian Garden Mall.
Read my lips Bolsavik, Assemblyman Van Tran is running for the congressional seat and he has raised hundreds of thousands dollars in short 6 weeks…..this is truly a amazing story .
Good job Mr. Van Tran!
We have high hope on your success……I mean our success!
Is that RED lipstick you have on, my handsome ?
Palin: “You know they say, the difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull: lipstick”

Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Garden Grove, improperly used campaign money to buy new clothes, the Federal Election Commission said today. But a complaint against Sanchez and three other congressional candidates with a similar violation was nonetheless dismissed by the FEC.
“The FEC said candidates cannot use campaign money for expenses they would have had whether they were running for office or not, such as clothes,” according to the Associated Press. “The commission said it decided against punishing the four because the amounts spent were modest and the candidates reimbursed their campaigns.”
It’s the second day in a row Sanchez has attracted the attention of AP. Yesterday, the wire service mentioned her as a possible candidate for governor in this report.
Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin attracted attention for a similar issue last year when the Republican National Committee spent more than $150,000 on designer clothing and accessories for her and her family, according to the AP. The RNC and Palin have said many of the items were returned to stores and the rest would be given to charity.
The FEC earlier this year dismissed a complaint over the Palin purchases, saying the ban on use of donations to buy clothing doesn’t apply to party money. The commission has asked Congress to add political party funds to the ban.
The others investigated for improper use of campaign money for clothes were Rep. Rob Andrews, D-New Jersey, – and former GOP House candidates, Bill Dew of Utah and William Breazeale of North Carolina.
Wow! A typical latina’s mentality.
Loretta Sanchez knows how to use donor’s money right ….
Call it a “free bee pleasure account fund “
Some food for thought:
A couple points I’d like to clarify that are also outlined in this OC register article (http://totalbuzz.freedomblogging.com/2009/07/14/van-trans-congressional-bid-gets-well-funded-start/18807/) :
1) Van Tran filed back in February ’09, far before he even announced that he was jumping in to the CA-47 race.
2) Van Tran said they opened this account because termed-out legislators cannot raise money in their account for their termed out offices, and typically open accounts for other state offices so they continue to accept contributions.
Is it really Van Tran that we have to question? Or should it be Sanchez who has been looked at as a potential candidate for Senate or Governor (http://www.beyondchron.org/news/index.php?itemid=6299#more) and fails to give a straight answer about her future plans
(http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0309/20041.html).
As the OC Weekly suggests….could Sanchez be leaving her options open due to fear of losing re-election?
http://blogs.ocweekly.com/navelgazing/a-clockwork-orange/is-re-election-loretta-sanchez/
A state senatorial seat might be the best opportunity for Mr. Van Tran.
An election battle with Loretta Sanchez might be a bridge too far, even with all her personal indiscretions.
Her name has been Vietnamized to Loan Yến Trần. Most of Bolsa most fervent anti-communist organizations are solidly behind her ( it is impossible for Van Tran to regurgitate his old tactic of red baiting ).
Country First, had a bad breakfast this moring? You are bit confused.
A normal Viet Americans surely will vote for our fellow Assemblyman Van Tran.
Loretta can spend all afternoon eating “pho soup ” in her fake photo op……. but we will still vote for Mr. Van Tran.
It’s lonely Loretta who will say “hotel room too far” with her boy friend… I mean her body guard.
I would highly support our Bolsavik running ……. for either the supervisorial or the state senate seat, he will have my vote for sure.
jung kim: “wow! a typical latina’s mentality” once again jung kim you come off like the racist pig you really are. since you consider yourself to be a proud viet and stupidly claiming to be some self appointed “guru” that would lead me to believe you are the typical “viet”? well i’m not as ignorant as you and my parents obviously raised me better than yours because i would never use such an ignorant blanket statement like that because i’m not a racist. if ever you want to pull your communist homophobic racist head from your ass there are plenty of people who are more than willing to help you overcome your ignorance. once again you shame your race but what else is new. what a loser you are.
@Jose S.:
But how do you really feel?
jose still licking and scared , go count your beans!
Now automatically you are going to see everyone with living breath a racist . Your medical condition stems from mal functioning gene pool and your words are absolutely weightless, dust worthy, garbage.
Now you are going to stick out little tongue calling all viets a communists.
Get lost and stay in your little dime size hole.
jose de idiot gets all upset whenever I support good Viet American community leaders. Go figure.
The frustrated, closet bound jose… get a life!
Support good Viets you oyster mimicking scum ball.
xu, yes, i admit i need to talk about my feelings… and right now i feel the need to take a poop but jung kim, i dont think of all viets as racist communist filths just you and people like van tran and his theiving convict wife. and by the way, there are no good viet american community leaders i’m sorry you havent figured that out yet. and did you notice how i answered both xu and you in one comment? try it sometime instead of throwing out random thoughts at 2 minutes apart. i know you have trouble concentrating but there is medication for that. as far as you being an idiot well i’m sorry to say theres no pill that will cure that. i’m sorry. i must now go to my throne.
| for Govenor? Tell Me Another Fairy Tale, Grandma!
By Matthew Cunningham | 07/16/09 | 5:51 PM EDT | 0 CommentsMartin Wisckol posted on Total Buzz about an AP story that mentioned Rep. Loretta Sanchez as a possible candidate for next year’s Democratic gubernatorial nomination. This isn’t exactly new speculation: an LA Times article on Antonio Villaraigosa’s recusal from the race mentioned her as a possible candidate because the LA Mayor’s exit meant there was no Hispanic in the race. And you can’t have a proper Democratic primary without the right mix of pigmentation.
Who’s kidding who? Is there some prairie fire of support for Sanchez that I missed?
Readers may remember how Sanchez kept floating her own name as a possible recall candidate during the Davis recall election. Nobody bit then, and I doubt anyone is going to bite now.
If she’s going to do it, it better be soon: the $352.58 in her Sanchez for Governor 2010 account won’t get her very far.
I’d vote for Loretta for Dog Catcher of Santa Ana, not for re-election.
Bolsavik, why don’t you run a post on “Tran Yen Loan” Loretta? If Sanchez is a Tran, then Vu must be Vasquez. What a taco joke!
You can’t trust Sanchez.
Loretta has bad habit of yanking people’s chains for attention.
Dog Pound Owner, Sanchez said she doesn’t want to be a dog catcher. She wants to be a dancer.
Dog Pound Owner, this election is going to be exciting ….. the ballot will read ;
“Tran Yen Loan vs. Van Tran and candidate Van Tran still will win!
How funny.
Protest Government Health Care Take Over — Tomorrow At Loretta Sanchez’s Office
By Matthew Cunningham | 07/16/09 | 9:02 PM EDT | 1 CommentRep. Loretta Sanchez, who likes to pretend she is a moderate, Blue Dog Democrat, supports Barack Obama’s health care “public option” — which is a euphemism for a federal government takeover of the health care system. She’ll make sure you have the “right” to health care, whether you want it or not!
Luckily, there are local citizens who value their liberty over dependency, and free markets over government controls. They’re planning a protest tomorrow from 11:00 a.m.. to 2:00 p.m.in front of Sanchez’s district office, 12397 Lewis Street, Suite 101, Garden Grove.
Please join them if you can, and remind Loretta that government exists to secure our liberty, not to take it away.
Socialized health care ! now you are going to far.
Our Redcounty comrades can only tolerate bailing out our rich uncle at B of A, private profit with socialized losses. Thanks to Comrade Bush for finally destroying the capitalist system.
How is your uncle doing at B of A. Is he is getting a million dollar bonus for foreclosing so many houses around town ?
Van Tran’s fans are criticizing Loretta Sanchez for a small campaign finance error? When its well known that Tran and other Viet candidates finance their campaigns with brown paper bags full of cash? Give me a break.
Hey Howard:
The only brown paper bag laying around is the one covering your head. Where is your imaginary cash come from? You are too old to play with Monopoly money. Give all of us a break.
Howard the Coward, can I borrow some money from you, please. I’ll take the money in brown paperbags at a 10 percent annual interest. Ha ha, ho ho you are such a dough!!
Politic is a dirty business ! All the politicians went for it for themselves and not for the people. Van Tran or Sanchez, they’re all the same. The sooner you accept that . . the better.
Is Obama the Mesiah dirty too? May be we should get brid of all the politicians and turn the govt over to Bolsavik. What an idea, huh?
break,
Some one once said “you get the representatives that you deserve”. So, don’t bitch if you don’t vote. Better yet, if you think you can do better, run for office.
Sorry Demo crab but I don’t think people deserve Tran or Sanchez. What choices do people have when good & honest people usually don’t run for politic?
Howard, used to $10 browny bags sold in front of your Sanchz’s office?
When will you clean up the street?
I am afraid we need to elect Mr. Van Tran…. in order to re -buld Santa Ana.
politic as usual – this common phrase never change through time, Tran or Sanchz or John doe, dem or rep. they all wear the same color.
Van Tran is a greedy scum bag. He’s just another self-serving politician relying on his race to win the Vietnamese vote and his party status to win republican votes. People need to wise up and understand that he does not care a dam about people. Van Tran is all about power and greed for himself. I pray that a candidate who really cares about the people will soon step up to the plate.
Say whatever comes out of your anus size mouth you idiot.
I am glad he doesn’t care for you because WE really don’t care for reject anti viet like you idiot!
Our Assmblyman Van Tran will become first viet american congressman from OC.
Good bye party woman Sanchez.
Assemblyman Van Tran has done 100 times more for our community than you have ever done in your misearable whole life ….mostly wasting time sitting on the toilet.
When the guy first became a big deal on local politics, it was because at a time of Red scare, people were fascinated with the idea that raising the yellow flag was too sacred. But adulation has seduced the guy into believing that he’s much more than what he is.
It’s good to have strong convictions, but when the people you disagree with are enemies, it sounds like the kind of thing voters have done over the years to stamping out.
For many, the Red scare is pretty tame stuff. And so, there’s been a change of tactics. Nowadays, the Brown scare is at a new high. Ironically, it accentuates the Yellow scare.
How do you explain more and more people find it desirable to do something so shallow?
Of course, it’s not about the support for their “king” but rather what they reveal about what’s in their minds. Not that I haven’t had aberrant thought at times, but I was embarrassed about it. I tried to hide it. Maybe some people are just brought up funny.
Given this history, it’s no wonder that his latest move has caused some alarm. Recent election results demonstrate that the guy can’t bring people into the voting booth as easily as committing insurance fraud.
President Bush said farewell to the nation in Jan 2009, almost 2 years behind the American people, who said goodbye to the Heap In Chief since Feb 2007 in Springfield, Illinois.
With this coming election, let’s see who’s behind whom?
XYZ…….Another poor man’s reason to chewing on a loser’s mentality. You can choose to become a self destructing bottom feeder….. but we are going to support good viet leader like Mr. Van Tran.
Yes we will contribute to dump lousy laughing stock Loretta from our district for good.
Jung Kim,
Simply because I do not support your candidate, does not mean that I am anti-viet. I for one do have a lot of Viet pride, but to me means representing myself in a dignified manner and demonstrating the positive values of our culture. Maybe you should ask yourself what being Viet means to you? Your language and is so violent and crude. Is that what it means to be Vietnamese? I thought Viet’s value education. I was raised properly so I know to not act a fool the way you’ve been doing.
Who are you really? Is Van Tran paying you to represent him? Why are you such a Van Tran lover that you freak out when someone does not agree with your opinion.
Your comment about the community is inaccurate. You don’t really know who I am. I have actually done more for the community (community means everyone not just the Viets) than your Van Tran. I am involved in humanitarian activities everday. I just don’t go around taking credit for other’s work or looking for photo ops like your candidate. When I do good deeds, its for the simple purpose of making a positive contribution to the world and not for the opportunity for political power. My community work is genuine and selfless, while Mr. Van Tran’s claim of helping the commuity our half-truths, manipulations, and lies.
I have no problem supporting a good and honest viet leader, but unfortunately that is not Mr. Van Tran. If Mr. Van Tran had strong ethics and was truly community to serving his community, he would defintely get my support, but that’s not him. He’s just another corrupt politician. I’m not anti-viet. I am actually anti-corrupt politicians like Mr. Van Tran. I’m a proud viet and I’m not a racist. When I vote, I vote for the person that I think is most qualified and most committed to serving his/her community. Sometimes that person happens to be Viet and sometimes not.
Jung Kim, let me give you some advice when you trying to campaign for a candidate. Try to cut out your immature behaviors, such as name calling, and focus on the real positive things that your candidate has achieved. When you resort to attacking people who disagree with you, it just goes to show how ignorant and hateful you are. I would be concern about a candidate who attracts ignorance and hateful people. If you think Mr. Van Tran shares your behaviors and values, then I would absolutely never ever vote for him. My advice to you is try to be mature and positive. You surely can disagree with people without needing to go into a verbal war with them.
I would like to suggest you see a therapist to work through some of racist ideology and anger. It’s really not healthy or good for the world. I hope you find some peace.
Really?
What have you really done for this community other than hide behind this blog to character assasinate Assemblyman Van Tran by calling him names? Did your parents raise you up so “properly” so that you can call other people names and make unsupported accusations?
Anyone reading your post will find you to be a hypocritical, “holier than thou A-Hole”. Did you know Gov. Mark Sanford? At least I know that Assemblyman Tran is fighting the good fight for me everyday. He’s been doing that for years.
Where have you been other than climbing out of your slimy rock at this hour to throw slime at Tran? Do you love Loretta and Janet Nguyen too? Cut the crap and climb back to your rock where you really belong. As for your parents raising you “properly”…. Are you joking?
XYZ,
Have you taken your Prozac yet? Are you seeing things and hearing voices in your head too? How can you love others when you hate yourself so much, just like Be Real, who is really a FAKE.
Let’s Be Real……. hmmm, that is why you post under XYZ garbage?
Hey toilet consumed idiot, I do not campaign for anyone but I just tell the truth as official guru representing our viet community.
We have been watching Mr. Van Tran closely for the last 25 years of community service and his excellent leadership. All this time Mr. Tran as been a role model for our youth and pride for our people. Hence your dillusioned trash talk can only be considered offensive lie period.
Get lost in a pitch dark man hole outside of this universe idiot! And yes, you are a pathetic anti viet loser.
A political commentator once said that the reason we have elections is to see if the polls were right. Of course, the pundits were right about the recent Supervisorial election district 1 and the Garden Grove City Council.
I know the peccadilloes thinking that profanity are not serious offenses, like murder or rape. But there is a road that leads from minor offense to even greater moral crimes. The future of Vietnam depends on a kind of personal shame that was obviously absent in the mind of some people.
It is for those people who do not see themselves as criminals, a sense of embarrassment would be helpful. What would people think? Definitely, these people are not ready for the honor system. Worrying that people might think you’re a jerk might be the thing that get you to be a mensch.
Smart voters know what they’re looking for. Learn from this !!!
And intelligent community members can grasp that fall of Vietnam was primarily caused by anti viet mouth pieces running on a divisive battery.
Janet is quite lucky to be a supervisor… she was in most part very nice to me privately but certainly she lacks leadership quality with shallow mind.
Andrew Do is Andrew Do….he has no substance, no balls and self serving opportunist mentality.
However, we still have Mr. Van Tran with proven record to be a straight shooter with patriotic heart for our people. Thank God!
XYZ, if you hear the word “idiot” as profanity…… then don’t be an idiot.
Even dogs never bite feeding hands of a master…… but I hate to watch Janet and Andrew being jealous of their master Mr. Van Tran.
It was Mr. Van Tran who has given everything …….a political support and an opportunity for these two pups to grow but today, they are completely disoriented of their own history. How sad!
My laos friend told me once that if one of his dog would bite him, that dog will certainly end up on his dinner table. Janet and Andrew are lucky they are not living in Laos village.
Jung Kim,
Janet Nguyen and Andrew Do are intesenly jealous of Assemblyman Van Tran and his prominence. They need to get over it. That’s life.
How do you account for Truong Diep winning the Westminster City Council against a 34-year city veteran? You “conveniently” left him out of your faulty assertion. Diep didn’t even have to play dirty politics, sending out dirty and negative mailers, like Andrew Do and Janet Nguyen to win his seat.
Hmmm, I didn’t know Andrew and Janet played dirty politics to win their seats. It stinks like they are wearing dirty undies. Repent kids! Go look for other vocations.
Jung Kim, I cannot wait see whose d-ck you will be sucking on when your leader loses. Turn on the gaydar for a new owner, boi. The election is around the corner!
Joe S., we better not have your bite marks on any of our good viet men’s very private parts! Yes, it’s coming….You middle tooth missing idiot!
Joe S., If you have dirty/perverted fantacies once in a while, go knock on special agent Andrew Do’s bathroom …..look for “Small D” sign on the door.
poor jung kim thinking i’m joe strummer. are you getting paranoid in that little communist head of yours? you think i’m the only one who dislikes van tran and his thieving convict wife? think again wormboy. once again you are wrong. man it must suck to always be so dead wrong. but then some people might think you’re just stupid.
