When the USS Lassen made its official port call to Da Nang, Vietnam, earlier today, it marked the first time that a Vietnamese-American U.S. warship commander came back on Vietnamese shore.
Cmdr. Hung Le (in Vietnamese: Lê Bá Hùng) was just 5 years old when communist forces overran South Vietnam. The commander’s father, himself an officer in the South Vietnamese navy, took his family on a boat and headed out to sea. They were picked up by the USS Barbour County, a tank landing ship of approximately the same size as the destroyer Cmdr. Le now helms.
Cmdr. Le is a native of Huế in central Vietnam. A friend of the family told the Bolsavik that the commander’s grandfather was Lê Bá Hà, ward chief of Phú Cát in the city. The family friend confirmed that the commander comes from the city’s illustrious ”Lê Bá” family.
A few hours before entering Vietnam, Cmdr. Le corresponded by email with a reporter of Nguoi Viet Daily News. (No, not the Bolsavik.) The interview is published here, in Vietnamese.
Some excerpts:
* “I was born in Huế and left Vietnam with my family in 1975. I grew up in northern Viriginia and attended the U.S. Naval Academy, graduating in 1992.”
* “I am very proud to be an American and also proud of my Vietnamese heritage. As a U.S. Navy Commander, I have the privilege and honor of serving my country as my father đi when he was a commander in the South Vietnamese Navy.”
* “(My father) never pushed me into a naval career.”
* “The U.S. and Vietnam have a growing friendship, and this visit is a tangible symbol of that. I am very pleased to be a part of that growing friendship, as is every member of my crew.”
For sure one thing…Andrew Do will always cover for his misdeeds with bold-faced lies or silent denial….every time. Thusly, he can NEVER be trusted.
If I wanted to dig at Andrew Do, I would point out that he contributed through the Democartic Foundation of Orange County $1,000.00 on May 5, 2001, when he was living in Huntington Beach. Most of this money went to re-electing congesswoman Loretta Sanchez. Odd behavior, I dare say, for a “republican”.

Hehehe. The truth comes out. Hot fat mama is from the Janet Nguyen faction heavily…if not Janet Bonikowski herself. I have been personally quite careful to respect Andrew Do’s privacy. Only the fact that there was never anyone at the GG residence did I keep “driving by”. It only took 3 times going by the Santa Ana home of Andrew Do, to find the whole family there. Case closed. No need to video him in his home or any other invasiveness. I could have taken his picture in his driveway. I guess only I get the posterity of Andrews “caught with my pants down” grimace. Truthfully, had I taken his picture, I would have probably had to run for my life. I could tell he was really pissed off.
lottahope, did he give you the constipated look? priceless, right? i don’t know why he does not take ex-lax to relieve his medical condition…he needs to learn to hide his feelings like his peers. the guy is in the crooked business and surrounded by fellow snakes but can’t stand the pressure…wrong line of work? you betcha.
if anyone has more personal information on andy, like his work performance evaluation or personal mail, bring forward to embarrass him in public for a fake he is.
are other people spying on other local politicans, like you with andy? you guys need an army to keep tabs on all these individuals, so when these politicans do not comply to our wish, we expose them on video or voice recording…nothing like taking down a politican.
Jusef, I was parked down the street at Beverly Glen and Skyline. I expected Do if he was leaving or coming to drive right past me, Its the only real way into the neighborhood from the 22 freeway. Do and the people in his 2 other Do family vehicles came from the opposite direction. Either he does this to make sure noone follows him into the neighborhood…or he was already in the hood and just was returning from a leisure activity. (most likely this scenario) I had’nt been on the street about 3 minutes when they all arrived. (around noon) I started my car and drove past the house. I could see Do’s truck parked to the left of the garage. The family van and family station wagon were parked in the first 2 garage spots from the left..van furthest left. I did a 3 point turn at his next door neighbors house, then drove by again. (his house side of the street) Then I saw Andrew Do standing next to his truck. We sorta looked at each other at the same time. I impulsively got out of my car to confront him. See, until this moment I did’nt really know he was spending time here (Santa Ana) or not. He musta been surprised when it was me that got out of my car. When I asked him straight out “are you still gonna call me a liar on Tuesday night”, he hesitated just a half second, then recovered and macho Andrew replied half stutteringly, “yeah, I’m still gonna call you a liar”. There was no energy behind this reply. I left immediately. Truthfully, I felt a bit threatened by his fear. If that makes any sense. I also did’nt want to get in a debate or dispute. He will NEVER convince me he was only there to check on the security of his house. To even suhhest that is akin to calling me an idiot. Why were several Do family trash cans set to the curb for Thursday pick-up. Yes, by breaking laws it would be easy to prove Andrew Do is lying. Personally, I feel I have satisfied my own curiousities without having to break the law. I’m ok with that. I would like to see a copy the utility bills at his Santa Ana house since he filed to run for GG city council…and especially since now he is claiming the whole family is in GG…let’s check the utility bills for both houses since he has been in office. I am sure that would be very telling. Hard to run up those utility bills when a house is unoccupied. The surest way to find out where he sleeps every night would be to camp out at both places at once. He has to leave one of them in the morning. I have’nt chosen to do this because I feel a little uncomfortable with the idea, as though it is too invasive…it is however the easiest answer I have come up with to get actual proof. I guess we should find out how far we can go legally, then proceed. If this keeps him out of Santa Ana, I bet a lotta food will spoil in his Santa Ana fridges.

Jusef, before anyone would try something this extreme, they ought to be pretty certain he is in Santa Ana, and remember to not do anything against the law. Remember too, it is probably not illegal for the Do’s to spend nights in Santa Ana, after all it is their home. Also remember I have already caught Do in Santa Ana and he has admitted it to be true. Andrew Do simply lies about why he was there. Andrew Do could have robbed a church and he would’nt admit it even if he was caught with a steeple sticking out of his ass. If the only way others will stop buying Andrew Do’s lies is for him to get caught again, I suppose others may have to seek the same answer I got. The real crime Andrew is commiting is the moral crime of lying. He has stuck his neck out and basically said he has nothing to do with this Santa Ana home. I know that is a lie…and he is too selfish and conceited to not just walk away from Santa Ana for three more years. He has to be the dumbest councilman in history. All he had to say was, “yes we stay their occasionally”. But Andrew Do has a real problem with being honest. It’s like it’s a disease he has to lie. I assure you I have seen these lies up close and he made it personal.

I drove by Andrew Do’s residence the other day and witnessed the same thing as what lottahope had written above. He and his family drove all their vehicles together at one time to confuse any observer, and they pull into the garage rather quickly to minimize outside scrutiny.
The other time I drove by, Andrew was talking to the water meter man. I could not make out the complete conversation but they seem to be disputing over water usage, stating that how the water bill could be so high when he and his family don’t live there.
With the one senior city council member questioning Andrew’s residency, I see worth in lottahope’s concern: Andrew’s true residence. Aside from whatever contribution he may think he has provided, he needs to obey the law, and it states that Andrew needs to reside in Garden Grove, not part-time roommate in GG.
It is time that the GG city council put an end to Andrew’s career as a city councilman; his presence is a complete insult to our city.
I would also like to add that Hot Fat Mama is a paid mouthpiece for power hungry politicans like Andrew Do, only a dishonest person hire another dishonest person. People of similar ilk tend to gravitate toward bad energy.
I watched the city council video and can clearly state without a doubt that Andrew is not a good person.
