A San Jose Viet homeless man was arraigned today on murder and arson charges stemming from the killing two weeks ago of a fellow Viet homeless man, reports KTVU here.
Quyen Nguyen, 41, is charged in Santa Clara Superior Court with one count of murder and one count of arson causing great bodily injury in connection with the death of 39-year-old Phuong Giang.
The police believe Giang was burned to death while sleeping in an encampment in a parking lot at 1692 Tully Road around 12:15 a.m. on Dec. 20.
Both Nguyen and Giang were transients living in makeshift encampments in the area of Tully Road and Alvin Avenue in San Jose.
The area is heavily Vietnamese, Lion Plaza is across the street, and many Vietnamese homeless people congregate there.
A fire investigator determined Giang was lit on fire while he was lying on his side in a sleeping position, police said.
Giang was pronounced dead at 12:28 a.m.
Three witnesses, one an eyewitness, each identified Nguyen as either the person responsible for setting the fire or someone running from the fire.

I think most people (Viet and non-Viet) who have had contact with Viet leaders (elected officials, company executive, etc) would not call them a bunch of fool. But I believe some of them have faults. If you think your Hispanics leaders don’t have faults, you need to get out of your house immediately and have you tested for lead.

I can appreciate your compassion for the homeless and the honorable van tran (who will be homeless soon) but I do see your energy has been put to waste and prime for failure.
I just don’t want to see all of that energy go to waste on something that is not there. They are not worth your cause. Can’t bear to hear the news some guy jump off the highway overpass when van tran fails his bid to the senate seat.

Just asking.
The largest population we serve from our operation is hispanic families 150-200 weekly ……and asians are between 20 – 30 families (5 years ago we started with only 5-7 asian families). Others white/black 15- 25 families.
Our people needing help were usually from those families with gambling/alcohol addiction problems in the past but now we see more from families unable to finding jobs.
Definitely immigration reform can alleviate some of our social problems.
