With less than three weeks until the primary election, former candidate Quang Pham on Thursday endorsed the man he used to run against, Assemblyman Van Tran, according to a press release from the latter’s campaign. Tran is in a three-way race to for the Republican nomination for the 47th Congressional District seat held by U.S. Rep. Loretta Sanchez.
“I am happy to support Van Tran in his race for Congress,” the press release quotes Quang Pham as saying. “Van’s focus on creating jobs and balancing the federal budget is exactly what we need in Congress. Van has been an historic leader in the local Vietnamese community, working for over twenty years to register voters, educate them about the importance of voting and making sure their voices are heard. I wish him well.”
“I am honored and humbled to receive Quang Pham’s endorsement for my race against Loretta Sanchez,” the press release quotes Tran. “As a long-time friend and Republican team player, Quang’s endorsement shows that collectively, we are committed to defeat Loretta Sanchez. He understands the opportunity we have this year. I cannot understate how important it is for us to come together at this time, and I am really looking forward to working with Quang as we focus on taking back the 47th District.”
Quang Pham is a successful business owner, decorated Marine veteran, and author of “A Sense of Duty: Our Journey from Vietnam to America.” The book came out with a paperback edition last month.
The primary election will take place on June 8. The other two candidates in the Republican field are Tan Nguyen, the GOP’s 2006 nominee for the same race, and Katherine Smith, a member of the Anaheim Unified school board.
Doesnt matter who this guy endorses, Van Tran is going to be unemployed soon. I saw a rally at Albertsons on Brookhurst where Van Tran was speaking for the Revere America group and there were 30 people there. He’s so popular, not even a single Vietnamese was there. If Sanchez was there, hundreds of Vietnamese would surely come out to support her. Sorry conservatives, your time is up.

Both of the above comments have some truth to them. Van Tran will not be unemployed. He’s still a member of the bar and used to be of counsel at Snell & Wilmer. They might take him back or someone else will think a former member of the Legislature would be a good rain maker. They stick with him for a year or so until they realize he’s just another washed up former Legisltaor and then he’ll be back chasing ambulances on Blosa Ave.
To think that my family & I almost vote for Quang is making me mad. I thought he would be different , as it turn out he’s just like the rest of the trannies and jannies.
