A huge melee between Vietnamese gangs leaves two young men stabbed, both with reputed gang ties, according to the Westminster Police Department here.
The gang fight happened in the parking lot right outside Hot Pot City, a restaurant in a popular hangout area at Brookhurst and McFadden.
According to witnesses, the big fight on Sunday night involved 10-12 people, “male Asians in their late teens or early 20′s.” By the time police responded to the 9-1-1 calls, the combatants had dissipated.
One young man was stabbed, and his friends dropped him off at UCI hospital where police was summoned.
Another was also stabbed, wandered off into a neighboring residential area where he asked for help from a resident there, and the person called Fountain Valley police.
The two stabbed men are Vu Thanh Le, 20, of Westminster; and Thanh Long Ngoc On, of Garden Grove.
Sunday was On’s 18th birthday, and he and his friends were just leaving the restaurant when they were ambushed, according to a police memo.
Le was stabbed multiple times, his lung is punctured and his head had been hit by a blunt object. On has one stab wound to the back. Both are expected to survive.
The victims are described by the police as “uncooperative” and both have prior records with police as gang members.
The fight is being investigated as a gang crime, police says.

Van Tran showed up at UCI Med Center and intervened with the investigation. And then Tyler Truong Diep paid a visit to the Westminster PD and berated the officers for responding to Hot Pot City.
